Reid non committal about Sutton, Nagy or Mahomes

That is not where I am at

http://www.chiefs.com/news/article-2...7-9672c8592d5e

Q: Is it difficult to make a change at coordinator that has been on the staff for a long time?

REID: “I think I will just let that slide there. That is not where I am at. Probably the wrong question to ask right about this time.”

Q: How comfortable would you be if you got to the point that Mahomes had to start next year?

REID: “I am not there. That is not where I am at. I can tell you what is real and that is he got to play, which was invaluable. He got the chance to be in a room with Alex Smith, which is invaluable. He loves to play the game. He got a chance to play a couple weeks ago and did a nice job with it. I am not there with anything other than that. That is what is real right now.”

Q: If Matt Nagy stays, will you keep him as the primary play caller?

REID: “I don’t know about that part. I thought he did a nice job, but I don’t know about that.”

I doubt it. The real world doesn't hate Alex Smith as much as CP does.

I don't believe Reid will start Mahomes until he believes he is ready. That may be at the start of the season, and it may not. But Reid isn't going to throw him in there and take a step back, he'll only do it when he feels Mahomes is really ready to start. That is just my feeling. IMO. YMMV. Etc. It was different when he got McNabb because the Eagles sucked, so there was no risk.

So do you think Reid expects to be in the playoffs the very first year that Mahomes starts and that could be as early as 2018?

I don't know what Reid thinks, hence the "IMO, YMMV" stuff. But at this point in his career I don't think he is planning on having a rebuilding year.

He just beat an NFL team that played their starters and we played B and C team. How the **** more can he show he is ready?

While Reid is "not there yet", available coaching candidates are being snatched up around the league.

He knows.

Unless Mahomes is having issues picking up the playbook or reading defenses etc. I've not seen or read anything that he's not smart enough to play QB in the NFL. No issues there.

Physically? He's big enough. His arm is off the charts. How tough? I've not seen or read anything that he's not tough enough to play QB in the NFL. No issues there.

He is going to make mistakes. We are going to be driving for the winning score and he will screw up a throw or try to make one he shouldn't have made. That goes with the territory. As long as he progresses, eventually, I believe that Mahomes natural talent will lead us to the promised land.

I didn't have that belief about any QB since Montana.

Most teams that start rookie QBs do it because they have to, because they suck. We aren't in that situation.

He's not a rookie anymore, he's going into his second season now. He's ready.

I'm saying Reid may not think he is ready, it isn't about me. But I'm sure a bunch of guys on the internet can understand the all 22 better than Reid.

Guaranteed that's not the case, so you're playing devil's advocate or just be a contrarian to be a pain in the ass.
