It was a hell of a run

It hurts, yes it hurts badly. But back in April no one had us going to the World Series. We were dreaming of just making the playoffs and we go to the last out of Game 7 of the World Series. We can all spend the next few months playing the what-if game but it came down to 2 teams, 1 game and 1 out. Sadly we ended up on the short end of that stick but we made one hell of a run.

Been a hell of a season and I know several of us hung onto every pitch, every swing and every run all season long. Even though we lost, it was all worth it and I would take a World Series loss over watching 2 other teams in the World Series any day!

You know, I think about what I would be thinking if things had went differently.

Taking a loss in the Wild Card
Same old ****ing Royals. ****.

Losing to the Angels
So yeah, it took everything we had to beat a cruddy team that is in one of the biggest skids in the history of the sport, then we get crushed by a real team.

Awesome. We gained nothing. Back down to the basement we go.

Losing to the Orioles
Well, baseball is fun when the Royals are hot, but we don't have what it takes to really compete. Back down to the basement we go.

But I don't think there is anybody that doesn't believe that we can compete. Especially sweeping our way to the world ****ing series. It's been incredible. It'd have been unbelievable if we'd have won it, but if you'd have told me all this was possible, even after the A's game I'd have laughed in your face.

The A's game was the best baseball game I've ever seen.

The Angels series was the most excited/intense I've been over a baseball series.

It was awesome watching the Orioles quit because they had nothing.

I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I think the only thing worse than losing is Joe Buck enjoying the SF win. I so just wanted to stuff it down his throat. The guy could not contain his rooting for the Giants the entire series.

Have to agree that the A's game is one I will never, ever forget. Bumgarner may have put in an historical performance but our team put in the best playoff game in the history of baseball, imo.

Yeah, it got pretty annoying. Maybe he had Royals fans giving him shit on twitter or something.

Heh. That was the only good thing about having to listen to it on ESPN radio. They weren't bad. They licked Bumgarners nuts pretty hard, but quite honestly, as well as Bumgarner has played this and all previous Octobers, it was probably merited.

Even Peter King and Rich Eisen, among others, were making fun of Buck on Twitter.

Going with Perez is defensible, but it's also somewhat of a scared move. IMO, Yost managed this game with a little fear. Waited too long to yank Guthrie when he could have played matchups before Herrera, went for the bunt rather than the big inning, and didn't force a hard decision for himself with the catcher who was obviously laboring.

Even an IF hit scores the run there, and Perez probably gets thrown out at first on a rope to right.
Sal isn't much of a hitter but I think Ned has shown (and the data supports it) that he doesn't PH. I'm assuming he wants to show confidence in his guys. But he doesn't utilize PH ever

You can't have it both ways. If you prize a team for making contact and striking out the least in the majors, they are going to go up there hacking rather than working counts. Personally, that's why I've always favored a patient approach. It runs up the pitcher's workload and gives you a chance to manufacture rallies without hit sequencing.

Yeah this one hurt pretty badly. I grew up watching the Royals and watching them get knocked out by the Yankees so many times I grew to really hate the Yankees that continues 35+ years later.

Now I hate the freaking Giants just as much as the Yankees.

It was thrilling and I got to watch every game of the playoffs and the Series unlike 1985 where I missed everything.
