It was a hell of a run

It hurts, yes it hurts badly. But back in April no one had us going to the World Series. We were dreaming of just making the playoffs and we go to the last out of Game 7 of the World Series. We can all spend the next few months playing the what-if game but it came down to 2 teams, 1 game and 1 out. Sadly we ended up on the short end of that stick but we made one hell of a run.

Been a hell of a season and I know several of us hung onto every pitch, every swing and every run all season long. Even though we lost, it was all worth it and I would take a World Series loss over watching 2 other teams in the World Series any day!

I really enjoyed the ride. I've learned more about baseball in the past few months than I ever knew about the sport. I've enjoyed taking part in the game threads and I've really grown to love this team. They really brought the city together and I cannot wait for next season. GO ROYALS!

But you still have Kratz and no pitcher's spot to deal with. Sometimes you have to push all your chips in the center.

Going with Perez is defensible, but it's also somewhat of a scared move. IMO, Yost managed this game with a little fear. Waited too long to yank Guthrie when he could have played matchups before Herrera, went for the bunt rather than the big inning, and didn't force a hard decision for himself with the catcher who was obviously laboring.

Even an IF hit scores the run there, and Perez probably gets thrown out at first on a rope to right.

Reflecting on positives is not something I can do right away. Just a horrible way to lose a game and series to one person.

I have never felt so bad after a game. I know most here are bigger Chiefs than Royals fans but I also know for a lot of us that isn't the case. I have probably watched this team play 2,000 games plus another 1,500 between radio and checking the box scores and highlights. The euphoria that would have resulted in a win would have been so rewarding, relieving, and satisfying after all of the time and emotion that we have poured into this team. To not get that is absolutely devastating.

Also, if Gordon gets hosed at the plate it goes down as the biggest baserunning blunder in the history of the World Series, surpassing even Babe Ruth's walk-off caught stealing in Game 7. It would have been mind-bottling.

Yeah, probably. Like I said the only reason I wanted it to happen was that Baumgarner was just flat unhittable. Could have been a bad throw, bad tag, drop the ball....just grasping for anything at that moment.

Is it illegal now in baseball to bull doze the catcher? If not then he maybe should have went for it.

My 10 year old daughter has been quietly watching the games with me. She gave me a big hug and went to bed. I went up to say goodnight and she was crying.

Just broke my heart. But man, am I proud to be a Royals fan. Thanks for being a part of it, guys. All of you...the old-timers, fans of other teams, it just made things a lot of fun.

Or Salvy not swinging at every pitch that comes at him. All those pitches were high and away. Don't think there was one in the zone.

That was what was frustrating me the most.

Bumgardner has dominated a lot of hitters in the postseason. It took superhuman effort and ability to beat us. The Royals left it all out on the field this post season and that's all you can ask of your team.
