If he's healthy, he's a 2 down 'backer at best at this point in time.

Take him off the field on 3rd field in favor of who? This team is thin at quality ILBs as is.

At 35 he'll still be more effective on 3rd downs than most guys thanks to 10+ years of experience.

Seriously, just shut the **** up.

DJ is a great player, and might be among my top 10 all time favorites, but don't come in here and put that bullshit on it.

He was getting punked on third downs this year and his run defense and tackling definitely weren't up to par.

I expect the Chiefs to draft at least one ILB to replace him this year.

How so? Surely you have some specific occasions in mind where he was "punked"..

We've been searching for ILB depth and an eventual DJ replacement for the past 3 years. Dorsey's never thrown more than a 4th rounder at the position.

He's probably going to do the same. I expect that a lot of people are going to be disappointed on draft day if they think this need is going to get filled with a high draft pick.

I agree.

But if you agree with me that Dorsey is going to shore up the ILB position... why did you argue my post?

The Patriots gave up two TD's to the same offense.

The Chiefs defense isn't at issue.
I wasn't advocating spending a high draft pick (though I wouldn't be opposed if the right player is available)... just stating we would likely address the ILB spot.

It all hinges on The Combine and how the draft falls.

If Dalvin Cook and Pat Mahomes are gone at #27 but Zach Cunningham is there, I expect him to be the pick.

If the Chiefs snagged Mahomes in the 1st and Raekwon McMillan is there in the 2nd, I expect him to be the pick.

It all just depends on how everything shakes out but as I've said before, I expect a combination of ILB, OLB, QB and RB with the Chiefs first four picks through the end of Round Three.

Depth, yes. Replacement? I'd have to disagree.

Ramik Wilson was a 4th rounder, whom Dorsey cut before his second season (and re-signed after injury to March), DJ Alexander was a 5th rounder who's not ready to be a 3 down LBer but became a Pro Bowl Special Teamer.

Justin March was an UDFA and quite frankly, after ending up on IR the past two seasons, is more myth than football player. Nico Johnson was a 4th rounder from 2013 and Dorsey gave up on him rather quickly.

Outside of those guys, Dorsey hasn't spent any draft capital on inside linebackers, so this is probably the year.
