But you know what sucks for me is that I so wanted to love this movie. I was so ready for it to be so incredibly awesome and I couldn't wait to be blown away. When the tickets went on sale online and the websites were down, I drove down to the box office and purchased the best seats that were available opening day, which just happened to be at 11:00pm on Thursday night. And this is during the holidays, with kids in and out of school and some construction happening at my house, in which the guys were arriving at 6:30 in the morning, firing up the saws-alls first thing. Yet, I didn't care. It was Star Wars! Maybe Rogue One will get me back on board but as of now, I'm just not excited about VIII & IX, although I like both directors infinity more than Abrams. Also, Abrams is on the pub circuit saying that if Ren didn't kill Han Solo, his character wouldn't have had any "weight". IMO, Ren didn't need to kill his father to have "weight" in this film but he certainly didn't need to have his ass kicked by a former stormtrooper or a girl that focused on the Force, something she believed was a myth an hour earlier, that also kicked his ass, scared his face, chopped off his arm/hand and maybe blinded him. That would have given him plenty of "weight". You know, not getting your ass kicked by a novice girl. But I digress... |

Oddly enough, I didn't see much in the way of lens flair either!

But then again, you thought the prequel trilogy contained good storytelling and episode 7 didnt. |

I've been on record for a decade at Chiefsplanet, pointing out all of the various flaws in the prequel trilogy, with AOTC receiving the lion's share of the criticism but with all three movies receiving their fair share (and probably, then some) of criticism. But once again, the overall story of the prequels, especially when coupled with the Clone Wars, is a very interesting and deep. TFA was basically a retelling of Episode IV, albeit, with new characters, which for me, was bland and boring. The main difference between TFA and the prequels, IMO, is that TFA was well directed, well cast and well acted but with a weak story. The prequels were poorly directed, (mostly) miscast but with an overall more interesting story arc. And the score? Forget it. TFA was awful, the prequels and OT legendary. There weren't many, if any, parallels between the prequels and the OT whereas TFA wouldn't have existed without the OT. |

The OT succeeded at telling a great new story. TFA succeeded at telling a great old story. Some of us were hoping for a great telling of a great NEW story. Unfortunately in the Star Wars universe, that only seems to happen in books or cartoons these days.

Had to laugh at this, because before I saw it, I was say to myself - please don't have to go to the bathroom during this! ! ! This guy in the same row as me had to leave the theater like 5 or 6 times during the movie- including when Han got killed. He missed a ton of the movie. I could overhear him as everyone left the theater talking about how bummed he missed it because he had to take a piss. It was still weird. I've seen female midgets with bigger bladders! Next time he goes to see it, he better wear a Depends!

Have to find the article, but Obi won and Yoda were in the movie in Rey's dream / flashback. Frank Oz and McGregor both recorded new audio, and they found a way to pull audio from Guinness' previous work. Alec had dialogue with the word 'afraid' in it, they were able to pull from that and isolate part of his speech so he says, Rey, actually in the movie.

If they're trying to intimate that Rey is the granddaughter of Obi Wan and Duchess Satine, it's unfair to the casual viewer. If it's something different, then welp, yay, more questions! |

I don't think that's what they were trying to infer. Yoda talks, too.

Question:
Do you think Rey is going to go with the single blade lightsaber or go double blade like Darth Maul and Satele Shan (SWOTR Jedi leader) She seems to favor the regular staff in her battles so far so would she gravitate toward a double bladed saber?? http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Doubl...tsaber/Legends Just thought it might be interesting to see. |
