4000 yards and 30 tds.

3rd year in the same system, updated ol and wrs, no reason he shouldn't hit that. Would be a disappointment if not

That's where I'm at.

I think 3700-4000 passing
300-500 rushing
26-31 total tds

Those are completely realistic expectations.

I'd settle for 28 TD passes, which would 1) Be more than Matt Cassel's Pro Bowl season; 2) be a 20 percent increase over what Smith has ever done before.

I'll be shocked if he throws for 4,000 yards, and if he throws for 25 TDs to WRs, I'll never say a negative word about him again.

I'd say this is my benchmark as well, and a playoff win. Don't care how many TD's the WR's get vs. the TE's or the RB's. Don't care how far the ball travels in the air, etc. etc. 4k + 30TD's + playoff win. That's what I'm hoping for for Smith and the Chiefs this year.

not like he has top 10 Oline, its upgraded from dog crap. Still bottom of the league WR corps, but upgraded. For those reasons alone, hell no to 4k season. 3500 would be an ideal number with 23-28 Tds thrown to WR/TE/RB and 4 rushing Tds and 7 Ints. That would lead to a playoff berth.

Agreed. Earlier I said I was hoping for this... but the more I think about it, seems too high. Oline, Conley and Wilson still for all intents and purposes still unknowns, and Smith's own conservative nature, 4k & 30 would seem to be a stretch. (not that I'm still not hoping for it).

Whatever the numbers are, I do think the offense has a much better chance at being a very effective offense - much more so than last year. Should be a fairly balanced team if the Oline can be middle of the road effective, and the WR2 and 3 can be solid contributors.

Look, nobody but a ****ing fantasy geek gives a rat's ass who catches the TD
passes. What was an odd statistical tidbit has turned in to thousands of stupid posts. If the team scores more than their opponent every week, Bob Dole doesn't care if it's a damned tackle.

Troll something else for awhile. JFC

Not necessarily true, pushing the ball down the field successfully helps the rest of the offense. I guess it doesn't matter who catches it as much as where they catch it. Wide receivers are much more likely to catch the ball beyond 20 yards.

Alex Smith will throw 25 Tds to Wide Receivers this year

Extremely unlikely. 25 Total TDs is a possibility, Id still take the under on that.

He could throw about 8-10 TDs to WRs with Maclin getting most of those. That would be a great year for Alex if that happens. Hes still a dink and dunk guy and thats not going to change. Maybe now with Maclin, Reid will find ways inside the 20 to get the ball to him. Im sure they will focus on that.

As far as long TDS by WRs, still unlikely. The longest pass plays will still be Charles taking a dump off and making a big gain out of it.
