Alex Smith will throw 25 Tds to Wide Receivers this year

Chiefs | Alex Smith being asked to go deep

Sun, 07 Jun 2015 19:37:53 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith has been asked to take more shots down the field this season. "I like where Alex is," offensive coordinator Doug Pederson said. "But now in the spring, we want to see any quarterback shoot the ball down the field and at least test it. That gives him the comfort level the next time he's in that situation."

Fantasy Tip: Whether or not Smith will be effective throwing the ball down the field remains to be seen, but with Jeremy Maclin in town to provide a deep threat, just taking an occasional shot should help free up Jamaal Charles a bit more.

Chiefs | De'Anthony Thomas preparing for new role

Sun, 07 Jun 2015 17:15:46 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs WR De'Anthony Thomas has shed weight in order to maximize his speed as he transitions from running back to wide receiver. "I just got a lot stronger and I feel like I'm good right now where I'm at," Thomas said. "I weigh about, probably, 167."

We better have a major OL improvement.

I hope that with a better supporting cast this season, he can get to around 3,700 yards and 26 TD's.
So a better supporting staff.....is only an increase in 300 yards?

Bold prediction considering the dude doesn't throw a single score in over a third of his games.
25 would be almost half of 3. 1.5625 per game.

30 would be 1.87 per game. No one thinks Alex will throw 40+ TD's.

I think what he is saying is that if the average is 1.5 per game, for every game with zero TD's, Smith will need to throw 3.

For every game with 1 TD, smith will need a 2 TD performance..

I think the inference is that we will still have games where smith throws zero or 1 TD so it seems unlikley hes gonna have a 'good portion' of games where he throws 3+ TD's to make up for those lesser games...

couple this with the fact that they need to be (according to the OP) td's thrown to WR's and well...yah...anyway

I dunno maybe I am reading too much into it...

My god i just want this offseason to die

I accounted for the fact that, to this point, ~37% of his games Smith doesn't throw a TD pass.

I was generous and figured that there'd be 4 games where he'd be without a TD pass. Hence roughly 2.5 TDs per game in which he throws a scoring pass.

not to mention games where he only throws a single TD pass, requiring him to have even more TD's in his multi -td games

Alex Smith has 23 touchdowns his first year in KC

18 last year with none to WRs

Can Maclin add 7 or more TD's to last year's total?

gotta think that Maclin adds 4 or 5 just turning short pattens into touchdowns.

25 might not be too far off

last year our Oline was a trash heap, Smith often had less than 2 seconds before he got pressure

the problem is also we lost some potential touchdowns by losing d bowe

Lets just say D.bow wouldve gotten 5-6 (maybe more) well now maclin needs to get those 5-6 just to put us back to an average year...

I dunno man...

It could easily happen that we get 25 passing TD's total, but theres no way were getting 25 passing TD's to WR as the title says.

lol ... i guess i should read more closely

I would gladly settle for 16 TD passes to WRs. One per game would do wonders at backing the defenses up and making them play more honestly.

you add that production to all of Reid's dinky-dunky stuff and we're golden.

That would be about 500 yards and 8 TD's better.

4000 yards and 30 tds.

3rd year in the same system, updated ol and wrs, no reason he shouldn't hit that. Would be a disappointment if not
