Alex Smith will throw 25 Tds to Wide Receivers this year

Chiefs | Alex Smith being asked to go deep

Sun, 07 Jun 2015 19:37:53 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith has been asked to take more shots down the field this season. "I like where Alex is," offensive coordinator Doug Pederson said. "But now in the spring, we want to see any quarterback shoot the ball down the field and at least test it. That gives him the comfort level the next time he's in that situation."

Fantasy Tip: Whether or not Smith will be effective throwing the ball down the field remains to be seen, but with Jeremy Maclin in town to provide a deep threat, just taking an occasional shot should help free up Jamaal Charles a bit more.

Chiefs | De'Anthony Thomas preparing for new role

Sun, 07 Jun 2015 17:15:46 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs WR De'Anthony Thomas has shed weight in order to maximize his speed as he transitions from running back to wide receiver. "I just got a lot stronger and I feel like I'm good right now where I'm at," Thomas said. "I weigh about, probably, 167."

We better have a major OL improvement.

I'm watching the Pitt vs GB SB replay on NFLN and goddamn I didn't realize the Steelers had one of the deepest WR cores in SB history.

Hines Ward
Mike Wallace
Antwaan Randle El
Antonio Brown
Emmanuel Sanders

That's one hell of a stack of WR's. I can't even imagine what this team could do with a WR core like that.

3rd year in the same system, updated ol and wrs, no reason he shouldn't hit that. Would be a disappointment if not
not like he has top 10 Oline, its upgraded from dog crap. Still bottom of the league WR corps, but upgraded. For those reasons alone, hell no to 4k season. 3500 would be an ideal number with 23-28 Tds thrown to WR/TE/RB and 4 rushing Tds and 7 Ints. That would lead to a playoff berth.

Both Antonio Brown and Emmanuel Sanders were rookies in 2010 so naturally the were both the #4 and #5 WR's behind Mike Wallace, Hines Ward and Antwaan Randle El. They were absolutely good players for being so low and not getting much time.

The Steelers have had an elite system of drafting very good WR's; most with elite speed.

Hines Ward>>Mike Wallace>>Emmanuel Sanders/Antonio Brown>>Markus Wheaton>>Martavis Bryant. And now they drafted Sammie Coates.

It's funny how the Steelers manage to draft BPA and still fit their identity.

You'll say "No, no Rausch they're a passing team now!"

Yup, and then they draft a ****ing super-****-you HB like Bell and they're right back to banging with a force...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

I am thinking it is hard for him to guess about who and what ability the other WRs down the depth chart end up at. So go with the simple solution.
11 rushing TDs for Smith? lolwut?

He's only got 6 total in 10 seasons in the NFL. He's going to basically double his career total next season? Pass that pipe over this way......

Evidently the Chiefs are using the threat of the deep ball to open up running lanes for Alex. Our Wr's are all decoys like last year.
