Nah. The bell peppers and onions cooked together make it. I love jalapenos, but this isn't a Subway sandwich. I'm not sure about ranch dressing. What does it do for the sandwich? You already have the savory/fat from the meat and cheese with soya... why add more?

No one believes it, but Cheez Wiz is the KEY.

If you insist on putting green peppers on a cheesesteak, or something other than cheese whiz...don't call it a "philly".
Just my humble opinion.

Do you put ketchup on a ribeye steak? The fascination with Cheez Whiz is because it's really cheap for the restaurants. Provolone, which I think is best, is really expensive compared to a $1 jar of processed cheese food.

There is no argument - provolone is a better cheese than "whiz".

I'm all about small steak pieces very well done. & destroyed onions. Those two IMO will really help taste and texture.

I had my first cheesesteak two years ago in South Philly on 9th street at the place that invented the sandwich---Epic MEH!
Not that they ever looked appealing to me, because they never did, just due to the color of the meat. Overcooked , overdone steak that looks gray in color with a yukky texture on a white junky roll ---->just never understood the enthusiasm for one of these things. Even when hidden under onions, green peppers and/or mushrooms. ( and I love steak ) IMO: Philly Cheesesteaks SUKK! |
