In depth article into Larry Johnson
Very long, but very interesting. He believes he is living with CTE and struggles to not think about suicide.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/sf/spo...=.1fbfbd72a552 “I could be Aaron Hernandez,” Johnson says, and indeed he sees the former Patriots star as a kindred spirit as much as a cautionary tale. |

Aaron Hernadez was reckless way before his NFL career. I don't doubt LJ probably had CTE but it seems like he's been trying to rehab his image the past few years.

I just hope LJ stays straight. After hating him for years and burning my LJ jersey in 2007, I've grown to like him a lot more after his 610 interview a few months ago.

LJ was on 810 last Friday night with Brad Porter. Talked mostly about the Chiefs' struggles, Marcus Peters, etc. Nothing about CTE. Was shocked to hear from him. Here's the podcast:

I'll read that piece in a bit. I gather the game has put him in a bad way, really hate to hear guys going through something so devastating.

Meh. War on football continues.
He knew the risks and still played. Like all of them. And like all of them, he would do it again for fame and fortune. Plus, he had the same attitude and violence in college as he did in the pros. |

Everyone "knew" that they'd have brain damage that would cause suicidal thoughts, anger issues and early death? You must not have heard about the $1 Billion dollar plus NFL concussion settlement. |

There's a difference between knowing the possibility of danger and the extent of danger. I can tell you that there is a common side effect from taking a drug, but if I neglect to mention that that side effect isn't just aches and pains but debilitating brain dysfunction that mirrors early-onset dementia, and I go out of my way to discredit and punish others that do try to mention this side effect, then I've not only abrogated my responsibility, but I've lied, and I have facilitated the disability of others through my dishonesty.

So the NFL throws $1 billion to make the PR problem go away...and makes $9 billion every year. That's good business...

Make no mistake, these are the final days of the NFL and even college football as we know it. By 2030, there will be overwhelming evidence that the game as it exist today causes enormous damage to the body and brain. Serious changes will need to be made for it to even exist. Whether it retains its popularity after said changed remains to be seen. |
