He'll probably just be happy with me not being gay. In all honesty, I'd see my mother having more of a problem with me stepping outside of Anglo-Saxon/Finno-Ugric/Gallic/Gaelic/Iberian/Itallic/Pict/Teutonic/ bloodlines. Can't understand why.

It's funny how accurate this group is.
I had a discussion with a gal last night and she ended up getting pissy because I told her useless online dating really is for serious dating. Man the era of humans interacting face to face with humans really is coming to an end. She was totally dismissive of the idea of starting a relationship with a random person you meet in public. I don't understand I was once really self-conscious and still am to some degree but I still go out and talk to strangers everyday. I feel sorry for people who aren't willing to step out of their comfort zone at all. How does somebody grow as a person when all they do is sit at home, watch netflix, and the highlight of their week is going grocery shopping while talking to people online? |

People prefer online communication because of the false intimacy it provides. I read a pretty interesting study on it at some point in the past. People think they're advancing their relationships when basically in reality they aren't.
I am one of those people who has no outside contact aside from grocery store trips and anyone who isn't like that is just as mystifying to me as my life is to you. But, hey, no two people are the same. Variety is the spice of life. |

I could spend a year cut off from people. Do you really think I wouldn't do some serious growth in that time?

I'm scared to even let a little back. Some day, SOME DAY, I'm going to be busy and forget for a few weeks and it's gong to be gray.

I had to start dying my beard last year. Went almost white at the corners of my chin. I'm just not ready for that shit. I don't even want to think about what the hair on my head would look like if it wasn't a quarter of an inch long.

So, if you know me, you know I'm a planner....a big time planner. The new boyfriend is planning Valentine's Day, and I get no say. He's not even giving me any hints. I love it and hate it at the same time...lol.

However, now I'm thinking of selling the tickets to pay someone to kick Native in the nuts.

I've never tried it. I already got married the old-fashioned way and once was enough for me. But as I said, I think people experience a heightened sense of intimacy communicating online, and that they believe it progresses relationships more quickly. I also think it's largely false. But reality is what it is, and communication is shifting ever more towards texts and tweets and other solitary 'social' structures. I'd say there's no going back now. |
