Patrick Mahomes is going to last 12 years unless something freaky happens. Lamar's not going to last 5 years with his current playstyle even without something freaky happening. So it's not even a competition even without getting into Mahomes being 1000x a better QB.

Guys who consistently get it done from the pocket NEVER go out of style... Jackson’s style will catch up to him
On the other hand, Mahomes will still be launching lasers from every conceivable platform well into his late 30s and beyond, if he so chooses Jackson’s fun, Mahomes is timeless |

I can see Mahomes playing till he’s 40 but he needs to plant his seed already!! I’m sure Brittany is willing. But we need a Mahomes the third to be drafted into this franchise so he can throw bombs to Zev while Mahomes and Tyreek chill in the front row

Lamar Jackson is a great fit for a system that runs the ball extremely well and plays outstanding defense. If the ravens can't do even one of those things... Lamar has looked bad. I can't even imagine what that team will look like after they pay him.
We've seen mahomes carry his team with no defense repeatedly. This year, add in no running game. Then games where Demarcus Robinson was our #1 receiver. That's not even getting into longevity. We all know lamar will eventually get bruised up from this. That's not a knock on lamar. But holy hell how can anyone outside of Baltimore actually want lamar over mahomes. |

12 years was an arbitrary number. Make it 15. Doesn’t really matter

Nobody is going to choose Lamar Jackson for the long term. Not anyone on ESPN. Not any football mind anywhere. But Lamar Jackson is an amazing talent. I would imagine he will have a career similar to Michael Vick if he didn't murder and gamble on dogs. And that is a very good quarterback. Baltimore fans should be very excited. Will be interested what happens when he turns 30. If he continues to develop passing the ball, who knows maybe he can be a Top 10 QB even past 30.

james harrison today was talking about how to defend a running qb
he said the way they used to do it is hit the qb no matter what when he goes to play that option he loses all protections and you can take free shots at him because he is essentially a runner at that point. He mentioned no teams have played him that way yet and when they do after 5 or 6 hits he will start thinking twice about running. interesting take I thought |
