Let's talk about the Raiders

Chiefs open as early 8.5 point favorites.

It is hilarious to see a certain poster talking smack about Andy Reid, his record against the Raiders when that same poster was saying that Gruden owned Andy and how bad of a signing Gruden was for the Chiefs and how the he was going to continue to dominate Andy Reid.
Thanks for the laughs.

I wouldn't be surprised if they lost to the Jets.

Which is going to make them all the more desperate coming into Arrowhead, just like the Chargers were Monday night.

Crushing the life out of the Raiders will be so much more satisfying than killing off the Chargers.

I never said he was going to dominate Andy.

I did point out his record against Andy was pretty good.

But Gruden has been good for the Raiders.

There is no denying that at this point.

Stop trying to exaggerate just to score CP points.

As I've said several times before, the Raiders are improved over last year, and Gruden will get the Raiders turned around, but not this year. They're just too thin across their roster.

And that's showing in their relevant stat lines.

Defensively, The Raiders are better than they were last year, except in sacks, but in every primary statistical category they are significantly worse than the Chiefs defense. The only exception being rushing defense/rushing yards allowed per game. They allow 106 yards/game, while our defense allows 140 yards/game. Though until the Titans game, our running defense had dropped that figure all the way down to 129.0 yards/game.

That aside, in most other major defensive categories, our defense is markedly better than the Raiders unit.

In passing yards allowed/game, the Chiefs are 12th (232.6 yards/game), while the Raiders are 27th (262.2 yards/game).

We allow fewer points than the Raiders defense.

The Chiefs have more INTs (12 vs. 8) and more forced fumbles (12 vs. 6).

The Chiefs create more sacks (32) than the Raiders (25) and generate more turnovers (25 vs. 17). Can you guess which team generates more points off those turnovers?

Finally, there's no real comparison this year between the Chiefs offense and the Raiders offense. We simply have far more weapons.

In week 2, we were without both Hill and Fisher. And the Chiefs completely dominated the Raiders in a single quarter, putting the game out of reach in less than 15 minutes.

This time, we'll have home field, a completely healthy OL, Tyreek Hill, and a defensive front-7 that's finally becoming more consistent. Add in the fact that Andy's going to have an extra week to prepare. Add in that Spags will have both a tape from our previous encounter, and an extra week to prepare.

On the other hand, many of the issues that were problems for the Raiders are still problems going into next week's game. They still don't have their best two DBs due to injury. Their best MLB is gone on suspension. And so on.

I do expect the Raiders to try and exploit the RB split wide scenario until Spags proves he can stop it. I just expect that he'll have some sort of answer for it by game time. It probably won't be perfect, as we just don't have the personnel for a complete fix, but it'll be something that limits the effectiveness of that scheme just enough.

This really should be a dominating win for the Chiefs on both sides of the ball.

A weak schedule has helped the Raiders let's not forget. The only way we lose this game is IF we beat ourselves otherwise we should handily hand them their arse.

Are you literally wrong about everything? Yes, we got a weak one last week, but before that we had one of the toughest schedules in the entire NFL. We went, bye week included, 7 weeks without playing a game at home, including a trip to London.

Now, outside the Chiefs, our schedule down the stretch appears to be quite weak.

One thing to note that has changed since we last played, we traded Conley to the Texans. His play this year was atrocious, and he was directly responsible for a couple of those long TD's in the first game.

Our 2nd round draft pick, Mullen, has stepped into that CB spot and is playing pretty darn well, including the game ending INT against the Bengals last week.

Also, don't forget that we signed Dion Jordan last week, and all he did was get his first sack as a Raider last week, with just 16 snaps.

Sounds like the Raiders looked pretty good against the Bengals.
