Actually I think he had 8.

Can't find a stat sheet anywhere on the 'net.

Edit: 8.5! http://www.superbowl.com/history/stats/teams/DEN/1997

The verdict is in!

Davis was a hot item when he came out of college, but fizzeled and left KC after losing his MLB position to only back up in Balt.

Patton had a more productive career than Davis. Patton can on at the tail end of his career and produce davis like #'s with less talent around him.

Overall, this is a no brainer, Patton hands down for longivity and ability with the talent around each player during there time.

We're talking about each player's CHIEF careers.

There's no question Davis had a better career as a Chief.

If you did the research you would see that Patton played on some really lousy defenses in his NFL career. At best the defenses he played on were average.

Davis never played MLB, he played outside linebacker. Simien or Donnie Edwards played the middle. But Anthony Davis was better than Patton.

You're right, I just checked out an old Packers article and he didn't play middle linebacker until he got to Green Bay.

I guess that makes this whole thread POINTLESS.

Again, just a difference in opinons !

Patton never lost his MLB position until many years of service in the NFL.

Can't say that about Davis. It was because of the talent around him that made him better.

Patton was solid no matter what talent was around him.

Thank you. That was bugging me -- I thought maybe I'd suddenly become ignorant. I never remembered Davis as a MLB. While you were posting that, I was searching for confirmation. I found this:

http://www.jsonline.com/packer/news/...rs31073099.asp

Bargain basement: Packers sign Davis for minimum
By Bob McGinn
of the Journal Sentinel staff
Last Updated: July 30, 1999

Green Bay -- The Green Bay Packers could have brought back Wayne Simmons, and former special-teams ace Lamont Hollinquest became available as well.

But neither Simmons nor Hollinquest was a consideration when the Packers' determined bid to acquire linebacker Anthony Davis ended with his signature on a bargain-basement contract Thursday. ...

Shortly after he signed, the coaching staff asked Davis what position he wanted to play. Although Davis had spent almost his entire career on the weak side, he told the Packers that middle linebacker was his preference. ...

"I've watched this system," said Davis, who hasn't played middle linebacker since playing there two years at Utah after he transferred from a junior college. "The middle linebacker is the guy that makes a lot of plays. Donnie (Edwards) made a lot of plays in Kansas City, and that's the way it is in Miami and Tampa Bay."
