What kind of wallet are you packing these days?

I'm in the market for a new wallet and I'm not sure where to head. You can buy cheap wallets for three bucks or you can spend $100+ on a wallet.

I've done a needs assessment, and decided the following:

I need enough room to hold approximately four cards: a couple of credit cards, a driver's license, and a health insurance card.

I need a place to hold cash, and preferably a hidden or non-obvious compartment. I'm a baby boomer so I will always carry cash because you never know when the Soviets will launch a nuclear strike and destroy civilization and we'll need paper money to exchange for cans of beans or survival knives. That's how boomers were raised, so don't question me on it.

It would be nice to have some other little compartment for miscellany, like my discount card for the grocery store that's 1/8 the size of a credit card.

I've historically carried my wallet in my right rear pocket, but I'm open to moving it to a front pocket.

I'm kind of intrigued by the phone case that doubles as a wallet, but that means that I'll likely need a new wallet whenever I get a new phone, and that seems wasteful.

What do you have? How do you like it?

I don't know how anybody can function with a tiny little wallet.

The real question is how often do you guys have to show a license to someone? Must be a lot to need the clear cover. Can’t remember my last time.
Dang, you're just out here raw dogging it like that, bruh? I feel vulnerable just carrying cash and cards all willy nilly.

To answer your question in bold, not often. Generally only when I'm buying alcohol and even then, I have to remove the license to show it so the clear cover is not necessary in the least; it's just a personal preference.

I have an old black wallet I keep in my truck with a credit card, hunting/fishing license, voters registration and a few pictures.

As for my drivers license and insurance card, I keep them in a little pouch thing on my bathroom window where I can slip them in my left front pocket when needed.

Cash goes in my right front pocket.

Condoms stay in the bedroom drawer, but they’re probably dry rotted by now.

If I started keeping wallet contents in more than one location I'll eventually forget stuff. Hell, not eventually; immediately. And if I leave the house with my gun and without my license, FOID and CCL, I'm committing a felony.

I've got a big wallet. It's got everything I need and some stuff I don't, but that's okay.

How do you store thousands of dollars in cash in that thing?

I use a bi-fold wallet which works okay. Most of the times I have my cash in rubber bands but at times I'll have as much as 10k in my regular wallet which is not fun to sit on.

It’s 2022, why are you carrying so much cash on you?

I typically only carry around $40, if that.

I've always had the $5 wallets. Nothing fancy, just functional. The Mrs bought me a Coach wallet when I retired 3years ago and I've been packing that since. I have no idea what she paid for it, but I'm guessing it wasn't cheap.
