There are some guys who run a 4.49-4.55 who still get caught from behind because they don't have "game speed". Then there are guys who run 4.5 to 4.6 who don't get caught from behind. Case in point; Terrell Davis who never ran faster than a 4.55 and averaged 4.6 BUT as soon as he hit open field as Chiefs fans we all knew he was gone. Darwin has "game speed". Watch his college highlights he rarely gets caught from behind once he gets beyond the 2nd level.

He's the same height as frikken Barry Sanders and two inches taller than Sproles and Cohen. The great thing about Darwin is that he can do it all. He can run between the tackles and grind out the yards, catch dump offs, do jet sweeps, run a route and get open etc. So I fully exect him to have a big impact on this team tbh.

I hope so ... let's see how he does in pre-season game 2.

As of now, I'm digging me some Ja'Small Charles. Hopefully, they'll give him some snaps and he lights it up. Certainly, he can benefit from the experience.

Thompson WILL be our starter by season's end. At 5' 8" 200 lbs, he's going to be a beast in our offensive scheme. Low center of gravity, freak in the weight room, great pass protection, good hands as a check down, and fights for every inch of a run. Call me a homer, I don't care... I REALLY liked what I saw against the Bengals.

I really like Williams. He comes through in big games and you hold on to players like that for dear life.

But he's had injury history and trouble finishing a full season. So it makes sense to spell him and nice to have Thompson waiting in the wings.

I like the enthusiasm, but I don’t think we can say Thompson has great pass protection. At least, we can’t say that yet. Darwin himself said recently that pass pro was not a big part of his game at Utah State. It’s something he needs to work on. Hopefully he gets there but that is probably the biggest concern right now.

I think almost certainly you won't see Thompson on many third downs, especially not 3rd and medium+. They just won't risk Mahomes safety like that on a rookie in pass pro.
