We tend to play man more than most teams & Nelson is a pretty physical CB so playoff refs should really favor us. Combine that with our downfield blocking scheme and its a great recipe for postseason success

Collinsworth was pissing me off the whole game with stupid crap like that. Also (and I get it, he has too) he kept talking about how the Colts need a break, something to go there way...AFTER they blocked the punt for a TD.
He sucks. Might have been the whiskey...but no. He sucks...

They missed a few calls. KC got lucky on a few in the secondary as well.

There were a number of holds kc got away with. I think there were a number of no calls in the secondary that were the right calls but we all know if reversed some here would have been crying foul.
Look at harris' hold on the hill td. If that happens against kc people go crazy. That's always my issue with complaining about refs. We are biased as fans. When you win it's all great and the Colts have threads about it. If Colts win we have threads about it. Another reason I shake my head about fixing. It's so subjective. Think about all the times we have threads about refs screwing us. Now think about all the threads we have about refs screwing the other team. And I'd bet damn near every forum of every sports team is like that. For that reason complaining about refs tends to annoy me. There are exceptions of course, like the forward progress or last night's in the grasp call. |

For years we've complained that this is due to bias towards the patriots or Steelers. Perhaps it's just playoff reffing or bias towards any good team playing smart.

Fishers hold was indeed a joke, but not much later one of the Colts lineup got flagged for a similar hold, which was a joke also. Calls have a way of evening out, I supposed. Ward played good D, but he plays tight, and always seems to have his arm on the WR's back. Which is perfectly legal, unless you use that arm to turn him. So either he learned a bit from the past, or the refs were more lenient on that call. Andy did mention that during the bye week they worked on fundamentals that havent had a chance to work on since preseason, so perhaps that was part of the Defensive overall improvement?

I have used the 'fixed' or 'rigged' words in the past and I have decided to stop saying that. That said, you are correct, the calls are subjective. Extremely subjective. I have noticed over the years that the way games are called in the playoffs are way different than the regular season. They dont seem a flag happy in the playoffs. My biggest issue with the officiating is that it's not consistent. I dont mind getting calls against KC that calls back scores or first downs, but it needs to be consistent. Last nights game was pretty consistent, although, I think the refs ended the game by giving KC that running into the kicker call. It was nice to be on the receiving side for once...

If any Colts fans bitch about the officiating, just remind them that they didn’t lose a sack fumble on a stationary QB to forward progress only to have the lead ref “retire” the next day.
I’ll never apologize for any favorable calls after that. |
