A 17-14 loss would NOT enact this defensive apocalypse, but a 54-51 loss would.

It's up to them if they want to sacrifice what's needed to win, but to not simply has them seeking a new NFL job, or puts them in the traditional job market.

That would be why I qualified it with "many of them". And yes, Houston is one of those who could find work in the NFL.

I suspect those who know they can get other work in the NFL might be looking for Bob to be gone before they seek negotiating with the Chiefs about a way to find that other work. I'm thinking Jones, Bailey, Houston, Ford and (maybe ) Nnadi fall into that group. IOW, I think all of them could play on other NFL teams. Nobody in the secondary, including Berry, can reasonably fall into that group right now. Berry because he's too fragile, and the others might be able to gamble on other teams buying their previous records while throwing Bob's system under the bus, but I doubt many NFL teams would buy it.

But hey, that's JMO.

Houston is still a beast. You can negotiate him to a cheaper contract. I'd gladly take it even if we overpay a little. So underrated what the guy does in all aspects of the game. Berry... If we can't get a full season out of him anymore, we need to cut our losses next year. It'll hurt our cap but will help us long term.

I know PFF is flawed but he's still highly ranked in their system this season. But because he's not getting 20 sacks, people seem to think he's broken down. Yeah, maybe he's slightly overpaid at this point, but if you think we're just gonna cut him and immediately find somebody as good or better... yer wrong!

Berry, Sorensen, and Houston are making a combined $42 million against the cap next year. That has to change, one way or another. Those 3 combined are hardly worth half that amount. We need a complete culture and personnel change.

Also, looking at the top 10 contracts on the team just shows how valuable Mahomes truly is. We're spending a small fortune on players who can't stay healthy or just outright suck. Kelce, Schwartz, and Mahomes are the only top 10 contracts on the team actually performing either to the level expected or greater than their compensation.

Sorenson has to go, there's just not enough there in terms of talent as far as I can see.

I'm willing to let Houston and Berry know that their fate on this team entirely lies in their performance starting Sunday. Don't look for a reply, don't give them time to reply, just let them know that the club is willing to look for replacements unless they play up their salaries.

We don't need their friendship, we need them to be active parts, in their own way, of wins. No excuses.

Mahomes, Kelce, and Schwartz are great deals. We should do more deals like that.

We'll soon experience something we've never seen before... At least on offense, we'll start getting players who don't have to be bribed to come here. If Watkins knew what mahomes would become, bet he'd have signed here for much cheaper.
