Is Patrick Mahomes the greatest football player of all time in college AND the NFL?
No other QB has ever thrown for 5,000 yards and/or 50 in the NCAA and the NFL.
Yards-wise, you have several dudes who have thrown for 4k in college and in the pros. The next closest dude is Big Ben who had 4,486 in college and 4,952 in the NFL. After that you get Quote:

I'm pretty sure Mahomes is the greatest football player of all time. |

Reminded me of this bit of history revisited.
Football alone might be insufficient to put Mahomes in perspective. |

We're going to need an analysis of every major sport and the Hall of Famers who duplicated their NCAA-leading totals as pros.

If he wasn't averaging at least 40/15/10 he doesn't enter into this equation.

Throughout his senior year, James and the Fighting Irish traveled around the country to play a number of nationally ranked teams, including a game against Oak Hill Academy that was nationally televised on ESPN2.[5]:142 Time Warner Cable, looking to capitalize on James's popularity, offered St. Vincent-St. Mary's games to subscribers on a pay-per-view basis throughout the season.[5]:143 For the year, James averaged 31.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 3.4 steals per game,[10] was named Ohio Mr. Basketball and selected to the USA Today All-USA First Team for an unprecedented third consecutive year,[5]:178 and was named Gatorade National Player of the Year for the second consecutive year.[10] He participated in three year-end high school basketball all-star games—the EA Sports Roundball Classic, the Jordan Capital Classic, and the McDonald's All-American Game—losing his National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) eligibility and making it official that he would enter the 2003 NBA draft.[17] |

Greatest of all time? That's a bit of a stretch at this point. Brady has how many rings?

For me, it will always be Montana, until Mahomes finishes his career. Montana was 4-0 in his 4 SB wins, and threw 16 TD passes and ZERO interceptions. It's like the Russell/Chamberlain argument. Russell was the winner, but Wilt was the better player. I would also put Rodgers ahead of Brady, because with the exception of Mahomes this season, I have never watched a QB with better skills than Rodgers. It's almost criminal how the Packers organization failed to surround him with a big time RB or WR over the length of his entire career. Sent from my LG-H932 using Tapatalk |

Mahomes has ALL of his talent and is an awesome guy who's not hated by his teammates, coaches, and even his own ****ing family. Being good at your job, any job, is great. Rogers is toxic. Everyone who leaves that team will tell you he's a ****ing dickhead. |

This debate is the only time that a player is REWARDED for LOSING in a conference championship game. And the NFC trounced the AFC EVERY freaking year back then. It was a joke. And everyone who was around to watch then knew it. The actual Super Bowl was the NFCCG every damn year, and the SB was just a beat down most of the time. But somehow that means Montana > Brady. You realize that Brady's W-L differential is more than Montana's TOTAL wins, including all losses? I'm fine with picking Montana over Brady based on whatever you saw, if you watched. Montana was more mobile, etc. etc. But this whole 4-0 in SBs thing, while ignoring NFCCG losses like 49-3. Brady's playoff winning percentage is higher than Montana's. Meh, whatever. It's not really a debate that can be "answered" so take your choice. I loved Montana and think he was great too. Whether it's 1-2 or 2-1, whatever.
