Light my shit up. I'm not a cap expert so I'm sure I'll be off on who we can afford overall but this is early anyways.

I'd have to do a little research on the cap stuff but on the surface, I like it quite a bit.

Picky thing: Winchester has already been extended
I'm not a fan. You've done yeoman's work in tuning up the safety position, really solid stuff. Everywhere else, I don't think we've seen enough of an upgrade. The DE position is marginally better than where it was last season. And the way you've just built the DT guarantees 4 yards up the gut every run down. You let Nnadi and Reed walk, replaced them with no one, drafted a 3 tech who has technique work to do against the run, and basically elevated a 280 passrush specialist DT to "DT2." Doing nothing at CB is aggravating, but I just committed the same sin in my mock. I mean, you can only make so many positional rebuilds. I think you've constructed a really strong secondary here by jacking up the power and talent of the safety position. WR is fine, Kirk is fine, I'm honestly not as "hair on fire" about the WR position as everybody else is. So long as Mahomes is clicking, we can throw on anybody. But the A1 focus of this offseason needs to be building that DL into a powerhouse while we still have Prime Chris Jones. And I just don't think you made the upgrades we need there. |

@ the DE position being “marginally” better with the additions of Ogbah and Ebiketie.

I also find it hilarious that Direckshun always shits on everybody else’s mock offseasons when his are consistently the ****ing worst.

Loved Kyzir White when he was a prospect. Is he a safety? Says he is 218 lbs? Maybe he’s bulked up since.
Also think we need to look hard at a RT. Wylie is only so-so. Honorable but vulnerable. I would spend a 2nd on one if they are worth it. Big fan of Brisker. Last year taught us that we need to take advantage of talent over positional value. The line between 1st and 2nd rd value starts after the first 15-20 picks. LB, IOL and S usually falls due to positional value. I’m all for taking that kid

Man, I know how much work it is to run through the whole exercise. It's fun, but also exhausting.
So nice work! I like Kyzir White and think that's a good, underrated signing. To me, the Chiefs don't need a MAJOR investment at LB. Just getting a better speed/coverage guy would do a lot. You ran into the same issue I did when I first ran this last week: DT ended up pretty soft. I like Wharton but don't want him on the field for "balanced" downs. I think the Chiefs have to plan to spend SOME cash on a DT. Whether that's giving Derrick Nnadi a second deal, or signing a Maliek Collins/BJ Hill type. Good news is that Collins and Hill-level players ARE generally available for affordable prices.

D.J. Jones is the guy at DT.
Dude has been an underrated piece on that SF DL for the last few years, and he shouldn’t be too costly. |

I like it outside of your choice of DT in the 3rd. I think a 1-tech trumps a developmental 3-tech with letting both Nnadi and Reed go. I get the need to think about a future beyond Jones but you may have bigger fish to fry there.
I've been leaning towards Travis Jones in 3 and Dion Novel in 7 to shore that up. |

I doubt Nnadi gets expensive; there's no need to let him go. He's a solid run defender and those aren't high dollars. Keeping him makes that whole thing look more solid to me.
I'd like to have seen a RB with one of those thirds; I think Rachaad White, James Cook, Jerome Ford-one of those guys makes that a home run. So I'd swap your DT pick with an explosive talent at RB. I like Alec Pierce a lot. |
