RIP Lou Whitney: Missouri Loses a Great Musician
Lou Whitney was a guy I met several years ago when I was doing radio at Mizzou. He was the leader and bass player for two well known Missouri Bar bands, The Skeletons and The Morells. He was based out of Springfield and had a recording studio there, and worked with dozens of famous musicians on album projects. He had a very dry sense of humor and was an independent thinker. If you were into Missouri Rock N Roll back in the late 70s and early 1980s, you would have seen Lou. He was a very unique guy, and he'll be missed.

I spent many an hour with Lou out at his studio. Listening to recordings. Hanging with Lou and the bands at his place after the recordings were done for the day. He was soo cool to hang with. Witty, always had a story to tell. Always considered it the best perk of the job. BTW I was there when he met his wife for the first time again. They had know each other previously but got back together. His wife Kay was the photographer at our wedding.
