Franchise QBs don't need a good team

To win in the playoffs and win the Superbowl. Where the hell did this myth come from?

Dan Marino never won a Superbowl, who does everyone blame? The team around him.

Steve Young didn't win a Superbowl until he had an All-star cast around him, offensively and defensively with Sanders joining the team for the 1994 Superbowl run.

Denver went out and signed Talib, Ward, and Ware, some of the best defenders in the league at their positions. But they have Peyton Manning, he makes everyone better, they didn't need to sign those guys to win the Superbowl, right?

New England went out and signed Revis and Browner. But they have Tom Brady, he doesn't need a great defense to win a Superbowl. Their FO clearly has no idea what he's doing wasting that money on those corners.

What is GB doing with signing Julius Peppers, trying to improve their defense with draft picks like Haha Clinton-Dix, and bringing in more WRs like Davante Adams? They have Aaron Rodgers, he clearly doesn't need the help, after all, he's a franchise QB. What are these crazy franchises doing?

Could it be possible that, no matter who your QB is, you need to surround him with at least a good supporting cast, that means OL, WR, RB, TE, defense, in order to have a real chance of winning the Superbowl? What a freaken concept, the idea that great teams win championships.

The point here is that the argument that Smith isn't very good because he needs a good supporting cast around him in order to win and have a real shot at the Superbowl is ignorant, at best. Give him a solid OL and solid receivers and he'll be as good as any QBs out there not named Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, or Drew Brees.

Right now Smith is trying to operate this offense with what might be the worst offensive line in the entire NFL combined with a bottom 5 receiving core. Yes, let's crucify him when he doesn't set the fantasy world on fire while playing behind this gem of an OL and with this "stellar" cast of WRs.

Quite frankly, unless the defense really surprises me, he'll have to play at least as good as Aaron Rodgers, at his best, can this season in order for us to have a shot at the playoffs much less a chance to win the division crown. Here's to hoping that Dorsey gets his head out of his ass and puts at least an average OL in front of Smith so that he doesn't have to run for his life after 2 seconds on virtually every play.

And two more, separate games where the offense scored all of 17 points.

Yep. Six games that Alex won because he is teh bestest QB evar!
And those were games won against some of the worst teams in the league.

That's how Flacco GOT INTO THE DAMN SUPER BOWL TO BEGIN WITH. He aired one the **** out and boom, roasted.

Russell Wilson had the highest percentage of passes attempted over 20 yards of anyone last year.
Wilson got in behind the league's #1 defense, and was one Kaepernick completion away from not getting in at all.

Flacco got in because a Broncos safety lost his mind.

On the other hand, Alex Smith didn't get in because his return man blew 2 punts.

You'll claim it's more than that, of course, because you're trolling, but it's that simple.

It's not that simple. Alex couldn't lead his team to scores in that game.

Flacco lead his team to 38 god damn points on 324 god damn passing yards against Denver.

Then he put up another 274 yards and 34 god damn points in the Super Bowl.

Alex can't do what those guys can do. That's why he's worthless.

Yes, Clay, it is that simple.

Go take a look at the steaming pile of crap that was Wilson's performance against the Saints (9 for 18, for 103 yards), where he was bailed out. Your argument is complete horse shit.

You do nothing but troll your favorite team's board. What the **** is wrong with you?

I find it funny and ironic that the Alex Smith Fan Club does the following things:

1. When Alex loses you point to the box score and say "wasn't his fault"

2. When Alex doesn't fill the box score you point to the W-L record

Which one is it? Asking for a friend.

And yet the guy still throws the ball down the field at a percentage that Alex can only dream of.

That's why he threw a goddamn laser down the field to beat the 49ers.

That's why he he was #3 in the goddamn NFL in YPC.

Alex was 30th.

See the difference?

The only reason you *think* Russell Wilson is a game manager is because the Seahawks don't throw the ball very much.

If they asked him to throw as much as Alex throws, he'd have sick ****ing stats and no one would think he's a game manager.

Shit, the guy was 22nd in the NFL in attempts and still had 26 TD passes. Only two guys had a higher percentage of their passes go for TDs: Foles and Manning.

What does that tell you?

If you put Russell Wilson on the Eagles he'd probably have 35 goddamn TDs and 4500 yards every year.

But he plays on a team with a top defense and running game so he doesn't have to throw so much.

Russell Wilson is not a game manager.

If Bowe could have been half the receiver that Boldin was, he might have been able to get his foot inbounds on our last offensive play when Smith threw a perfect ball downfield to him instead of trying for a safer short throw for the conversion that all of you hate on him for.
