Andy Reid on Mike & Mike: "Alex is our quarterback by the way"

Don't want to read too much into the conversation but just watched Andy on M&M this morning and he made it clear that Alex was the QB. Mentioned that he could still play, was at the Pro Bowl (), and can do all the things he wants his guy to do.

In essence, we can put any talk of Tony Romo, Nick Foles, or any other retread to bed. But, they did talk about college system QBs briefly (no one specific), and he said that as long as they feel like a guy can learn, it is their job to transition a college system QB and that it doesn't effect their decision on which type to take.

So, will we draft a QB? Idk, my bet is on yes since Foles is apparently gone.

It's basically the QBR version of that game of Matt Cassel's where he went something like 14/18 for 90 yards and lost the game by 20+ points, but earned a 125 rating on the traditional rating scale.

Both metrics are severely flawed.

Gotta hand it to Matt though, he graded out perfectly there

No use wailing and gnashing teeth over Alex. He's not so expensive that the team suffers and we won't cost you games.

All this agita about elite? franchise? mediocre? serviceable? awful? is a waste of time.

Either you can smoke Brady, or you cannot smoke Brady. And good luck with all that.

I'm not some blind apologist, just a realist about 1) how interconnected team success is [regardless of how some think everything hinges on the QB] and 2) how rare the elite QB is.

Now, if you want to have a conversation about scout and trainers. We can talk.
Uhhh...he lost 2 games this year with untimely interceptions.

There is no QB that fits that description. Brady is the GOAT, you are saying that only a QB greater than the GOAT is acceptable.

Just applying CP rules as they've been passionately and doggedly laid out. The only football that counts is SB wins, the only football player that matters is QB, and Brady is still in the league, in the AFC no less.

Do the math, or about the roster.

If we were able to find a QB this year or next, by the time he is hitting his stride and over his rookie mistakes it will be probably 2019 or 2020 and Brady will most likely be done finally. It's plausible to find a QB now that won't ever have to up against a top notch Brady.

Now would be perfect time to start the grooming, if not by next years draft...

The big thing Chiefs need to be concerned about is the higher risk of Alex Smith being concussed again and missing more games.

I'd want a rookie to step in and pop his cherry no good would it do us to have a vet backup that would prevent progression and learning for a young quarterback.

Got to give opportunity and if they are worth a high round draft pick then they should be able to step in. I do expect growing pains but I'd rather have growing pains with hope than no hope at all.

The irrational and ever changing rules get applied by the extreme homers and extreme haters alike.
