Here's the bottom line for me, until we find a QB who is GUARANTEED to beat Brady reliably by himself, the rest is just grousing about fate.

No use wailing and gnashing teeth over Alex. He's not so expensive that the team suffers and we won't cost you games.

All this agita about elite? franchise? mediocre? serviceable? awful? is a waste of time.

Either you can smoke Brady, or you cannot smoke Brady. And good luck with all that.

I'm not some blind apologist, just a realist about 1) how interconnected team success is [regardless of how some think everything hinges on the QB] and 2) how rare the elite QB is.
