Per 810: Chiefs tried to trade back up into 1st round

And they are looking to move up in the 2nd.

They think Dalvin Cook is the target.

I'd be stoked if they got a starting corner in the 2nd and then took Vanderdoes in the third. Or if they took Cunningham or Kamara or Cook or Moreau etc.

Yeah, we discussed that in another thread. He's an arm tackler but it's a technique rather than a crutch. I guess it's called "hawk-tackling" or something to that effect because Seattle is now teaching it a lot.

He has freakishly long arms so he isn't a guy that drag tackles, he wraps and rolls; in so doing he takes the guys legs out with his bottom half. It's a really unique style that's evidently becoming more and more common. It's very effective but if you don't realize that he's doing it on purpose, it looks weird so he does get labeled as an arm tackler.

I don't think it's a fair label. He's an excellent tackler, if perhaps not the physical thumper that someone like Foster would be. But it's not terribly common that DJ lays the wood to people either.

If you scroll down a bit, there's a discussion on it. The video is pretty good as well.

I would just be worried that NFL players would be strong enough to break those arm/grab tackles.

Pug's source was correct with Mahomes. It will be interesting to see if they trade up for Cunningham since his source stated they were interested in him as well.

Can't break a tackle if your legs aren't under you.

Try to give him a longer watch if you can - he's not getting run through. Far more often than not he's able to use his height/leverage to essentially sweep the leg on these guys.

Frankly, at his height, trying to be a conventional tackler is probably going to get him blown up a lot. Low man wins and he ain't gonna be the low man all that often.

I think he's polarizing because he's different but he's also learned to play to those unique attributes and make them strengths.

Yeah there's no point in trading up in rd 2 IMO. So much talent will be there. It will dip off a bit in rd 3 at certain positions like DL.

Move up rd 3

What about Dalvin Cook? He has apparently behaved worse; it's just that his despicable behavior isn't on camera.

Here's another way to look at it - think of how many times DJ just took out a RBs legs. He wasn't a guy that was going chest to chest to wreck RBs. Far more often than not, he'd dive at legs and try to just sweep 'em out.

That leaves you just as exposed if you fail to execute it as a drag tackle would. But DJ was excellent at it. But what he did left him flailing at air if he missed. Cunningham also tries to remove the legs from the equation but he wraps first. An argument could be made that his technique is the best of both worlds, to a degree.

It would take a more football savvy person than me to make it, but I think it's there for people more versed in defensive technique than I am.

This is not going to sound good, but I wonder if we would have ever heard about Mixon's issues if the table wasn't right where it was. If you watch the film closely, the gal smacked the table hard right on the edge with her face. I am guessing that is where all the damage is done. If the table is 2 feet further back, she doesn't hit it.

That been said, if Mixon doesn't hit her, her face doesn't hit the table.
