Are you prepping for winter?

Just curious if anyone else has been and what is your routine?

So far on the house:
Caulked, painted the exterior gaps and leak parts of the house.
Unhooked hoses.
Changed furnace filter, cleaned humidifier and changed filter and switched settings.

Vehicle:
Changed oil, air filter and plugs, checked fluids.
Built my sand bag frame to keep the sand bags over the rear axels.

Still need to do:
Load sand bags in pickup.
Attach / retro fit snow plow to tractor.

Fake yards FTW!

I would love to have a fake yard and astroturf, but I don't think it would hold up with the weather we get here in Kansas. Seems like a no brainer if you only had a small yard in the southwest though.

Fake yards are kind of cool, and you can buy a cheap lawn mower at a garage sell, take the blade off and pretend that you are mowing and your neighbors look at you and go WUT!!???

I don't know anything about them.

Does the cold hurt them?

I'm not sure, I'd like to hear experiences of people in the Midwest that have them. I've never really seen anybody in the Midwest that have them, so I would imagine there is a reason for that.

They are crazy expensive.

I think it would be awesome to have a perfect green lawn while it's -10 in January.

I need to prep my zero turn to put up for the winter, with this rain I'll wait a bit for it to dry some before mulching the yard one last time. I have a maple that just dumped most of its leaves in the last few days. Funny how the tree decides to shed its leaves seemingly over night.

A buddy of mine builds houses in Holcomb and said he was going to put one in. I'll see if he did, and how it is doing.

If you could get field turf like they put on football fields it would be good. That shit is definitely nice to be on. The problem I would see is it has to have concrete under it and if you have trees it might make the cement heave. I'm definitely down for it if I can afford to get it installed.
