IF it's a case of 1a, 1b, 1c, 1d, 1e instead of a clear 1 to 5, 1e in the 2nd or 3rd round is a much better risk than blowing the top choice of the draft on 1a. Is there a measurable daylight between the top 5? Folks here are arguing up and down about it. But the reality is we don't know until all facts are in.

I didn't choose Bray over Smith. But I might consider Bray a better value in the 3rd or late 2nd than Smith at the top of the draft. But I won't know until the interviews and the combine are in. If Bray's interview convinces the Chiefs brass that his "immaturity" was only a college phase I'll defer to Andy Reid.

I thought about Dysert. He'd be a possibility if they bring in someone like Alex Smith.

But if they go for Foles, he's so young it kind of makes picking a QBOTF redundant.

We'll know the plan well before the draft. We'll have a veteran most likely, and we'll know the direction for the first pick. It won't be an, "Oh no! We missed out on the QB, and now they're all gone!" situation, at least from their perspective. If they don't take a QB first, they're fully prepared for the top 2,3 or 4 to be gone and they're fine with that. If they want one of the QBs they'll get one of the QBs.

If we sign Alex Smith I'd almost bet our 2nd or 3rd pick is a QB. Another option is to try to get both AS and Foles (provided one comes in as a FA) and let them fight it out.
