To Amazon Prime or NOT to Amazon Prime
Sorry if Q, but I'm on the fence about doing the whole Amazon Prime thing. Seems like getting rid of Netflix all but pays for it, but wanted to ask the opinions of others in this Mecca of awesome knowledge called Chiefs Planet..

Is Amazon Prime really worth it over eBay when you buy, let's say, 5-7 items a month? I ask because I always do the "price+shipping" deal, so it seem like it's a wash at some level. That being said, "Prime" would ALWAYS mean two-day shipping, and that's something I hardly ever do on eBay, so it could be a deal that makes it worth it enough to buy 15-20 things a month. The whole "eliminating some of the instant gratification culture/concern" deal...


Oh, and I've heard that if you use an "edu" account it's free for six months (perhaps not a big deal over a lifetime!!), but is then like half the cost. Does anybody know if that's true? If so, and it' the son who has the "edu" account, how does "Dad" pull off that scam without having the kid able to buy pretty-much anything he's ever wanted?

Thanks in advance... Just looking for some opinions before I leap...

When they were first introduced, they were $99 for Prime members. That was a relatively short run. I was tempted at that price, but just seems like a luxury I don't need.

Yeah, I looked at it but just couldn't see the real need for it. Guess it would give the kids a fun thing to play with.

I almost jumped on the Farcry deal until I again noticed how they manipulated your "savings" Showing it as a $49.99 game when its current price everywhere is 19.99 and they offered it for 14.99.

There were some good deals in the warehouse with the extra 15 percent off. I ended up snagging a zotac gtx 970 gpu for 246 bucks. Think they're like 305+ at newegg.

But yeah Most of those lightning deals sucked and they tried to sucker people into impulse buying.

this is part of people's problems. It doesn't matter if the item is "76% off". What matters is the bottom line price. If you need it or want it and it's cheaper than anywhere else, it is a deal. If not, then wait, your choice.

I'm sure they sold a lot of knickknacks yesterday. The controversy is over how they hyped this like Black Friday to get people to sign up for Prime and then showed up with a garage sale.

If you look at their Twitter feed or Facebook page, reaction was almost 100% negative
