Chiefs' draft needs next year

The Chiefs have made great strides in recent years, acquiring significant talent that will never be allowed to play in a Super Bowl. In order to continue losing close playoff games against the teams that always go to the Super Bowl, they'll need to continue drafting well.

What are your top three areas of priority in the draft? Assuming equal talent among all prospects, what are the areas that would draw your first three rounds of picks?

Poll to follow, unless the referees force me to post it on some Steelers forum.

Watson just strikes me as having the moxie to be a great QB.

Think about it. Over the past 15 years, we'd drafted almost EVERY other position in the 1st round.

2016: Traded out for Chris Jones (DL)
2015: Marcus Peters (CB)
2014: Dee Ford (OLB)
2013: Eric Fisher (OT)
2012: Dontari Poe (NT)
2011: Jonathan Baldwin (WR)
2010: Eric Berry (S)
2009: Tyson Jackson (DE)
2008: Glenn Dorsey (DT)
2007: Dwayne Bowe (WR)
2006: Tamba Hali (OLB)
2005: Larry Johnson (RB)

Most of these ended up being really good players. And yet we STILL can't cross into the land of the elite. And we ALL know why.

Find the best QB in this draft and pay whatever you have to in order to get him. We can find the other positions later in the draft and in FA/UDFA.
I love the idea of taking Watson though I know it's a real long shot. We have a perfect situation for him and I have no issue playing Alex 1 or 2 years knowing we had a QB we're grooming. Andy Reid adapted the WCO to fit McNabb's talents and he would do the same for Watson.

Ok the Bama homer in me would try to go get McCaron from Bengals. He's a great QB with a fiery attitude.

ILB because I'm tired of seeing us gashed between the tackles (and not tackling).
RB because Charles is a huge question mark and West didn't show me much this year. Davis is done in KC and Reaves couldn't beat out either West or Davis.
I was torn between an OLB and OG/T on the last one. Hali is on his last legs (no pun intended) and Ford is so lost he needs a road map. However, I'm really sick of Jah Reid as a swing tackle and Fulton hasn't panned out as a starter. Ultimately, our greater need is a pass rusher, so OLB.
I'm not sold on any of the QBs in the draft pool this year. At least as a #2 or first choice 3.

The rest go to O-Line.
Tough to argue with any of this... Berry may be the heart, but who is our angry fist?

Peters seems like the logical choice in general, but we do need a THUMPER in the guts of this defense... you're right, we're soft without it

You just know Tyreek is going to do something stupid this offseason. Aqib is going to show him the ropes.

You will need a kick returner.

Heck no. Ware is a decent back. Unless someone special falls into your lap, it's an entirely forgettable position. QB is the only priority, or when they inevitably avoid potential at that position, you have to focus on defense. Couldn't sniff Big Ben. Couldn't come close to stopping Bell. Couldn't cover their WRs for shit.

Investing a single cent or draft pick in the offense outside of QB is entirely redundant. They'll never score more than a handful of points against competent defenses in the playoffs. Better to load up on D and prayer for a 10-7 miracle win.

We're probably going to have 11 picks in this year's draft.

I hope we draft 11 quarterbacks.

so hard to tell until we have more knowledge on the situation.

Who do we keep? (Berry, Poe etc)
Who do we sign in FA?
Is there a quality QB when we pick? (you don't just pick a QB to pick one)

As the team sits right now ... Pass Rusher, Cornerback and an ILB are probably our top needs.

I listed those needs in order of their positional value, not need.

A franchise QB is always the pick if one is there.

Pass Rusher - Houston hasn't been healthy and often hasn't looked great even when he has. Ford is inconsistent, Hali is done. We need more options.

Cornerback - Gaines(see above about Houston) after Peters we have a mediocre group who can't be left alone with any receiver that's above average.

ILB - DJ might be done, after that, we have a bunch of guys who can't stop the run worth a shit.
