I hate the overbooking policy but that's not the main issue here. I at least understand the rationale. Their execution, on the other hand, is indefensible

How could United not have planned for these 4 employees? And why did it happen after boarding?
How the hell do they not have a prioritization process? Random selection is incredibly juvenile
Why did they stop at $800? A few extra hundred would have saved them hundreds of thousands in bad publicity
Why wouldn't they just find alternate arrangements?
How do they not have a policy in place for those who flat out refused? Is it OK that several patients were denied the opportunity to see their doctor? What if the guy was sprinting home to see a dying parent? What if he was a business executive that had 24 hours to save a a multimillion dollar deal? There are a billion ways to have found a different person to boot without having to drag a paying customer off against his will.

I don't fly the airlines much since I am a part time pilot service/charter pilot similar to Reerun (except he flies cooler shit).

The company I fly for was going to let me use their plane to fly to Vegas for a flooring convention for fuel only. Great deal, except the mother ****er was down for annual the week I was going to go. Thanks for the heads up!

Anyway, I went with my wife, and another couple that flies the airlines 5-6 times a year. When we were waiting to come back, we were informed that the flight was overbooked. I looked at my friend with confusion, and he informed me that one of us will probably have to stay behind.

It blew me away. I had a paid ticket, needed to get back home for business and family, and because this cock-sucking airline sold too many tickets I could possibly be ****ed out of a day or two?

Everything worked out, but I was fully educated as to how little consideration airlines have for their passengers, and the passengers are resigned to the fact that shit's going to happen.

Unacceptable. The search for my own plane is underway. I wish I could justify the Turbine Bonanza I normally fly, I will probably have to settle on a Turbo Bonanza, Commanche or a Twin Commanche.

**** the airlines and their 2-3 hour waits, and possible rape due to overbooking.

United ****s up by boarding too many passengers but won't make their own crew grab another flight? Forcibly removes someone with a "random drawing." Yea, that's two mistakes in one.

Anyone who doesn't want United to be hit with a major settlement is in serious need of some counseling. **** these airlines.

Does it really say that airlines can remove already boarded passengers for an overbooked flight, for any reason?

Keep raising the amount of money you'll give to the person who voluntarily gives up their seat until someone does.

The airline should be the ones suffering from this, not the passenger.

True dat, but if you invite the cops to beat your customers' asses, prepare to get your revenues beaten.

The problem with united is that they will randomly **** with your itinerary after you've booked your flight (you need to check it often). They usually only do it one time and when you catch it and confirm it (usually slight change in time) it's locked in. This is only flying coach. If you fly first class or the extra room section it doesn't happen.

I have the united app and check it often after booking and it's happened to me a couple of times but I caught it early.

Noncompliance us different from resistance.

He was a paying customer. He had already boarded. He had a reasonable reason to need to be back. It doesn't sound like he was kicking or screaming. His violation was sitting there and refusing to be dragged out. That seems like a bad standard to drag someone out for just sitting there.

Any number of mistakes by that shitty airline.

1) Do NOT board the plane until overbooking is straightened out.
2) If your employees HAVE to be on that flight, up the voucher until enough people bite.
3) There are 51 daily flights to Louisville from Chicago. Book the employees on another airline if needed.

With all that said, United just needs to go out of business. They have been beyond terrible for many years.

Poor bastard got concussed when his head was bashed on an armrest. He could conceivably sue United and Chicago PD. Both deserve it.

Agree its a shitty situation all around and the airline could have handled it better.

but if im in that same situation, there is no way i allow myself to be dragged off. I would be upset, but id certainly do what they told me. especially if im getting re-imbursed $$$

Be a mature adult
