Of course, you said our players would all be way better after being in the playoffs. But who got better? Hos and Cain. Nobody else has better numbers outside Mooses April.



We got better because DM plugged every hole last year with upgrades. (And our division is poor). I give him + his scouts a lot of credit.

I predicted 87-75.

That was based on several factors:

1. I wasn't convinced that our starting pitching would hold up, and that Volquez would look closer to a #3/4 vs a #2/3. I was wrong

2. I strongly disliked the Rios and Morales deals. I thought both would be slugs - I was half right

3. I thought the bullpen would regress slightly back to something human. They've proven me wrong on that as well.

4. Maybe most important, I thought CLE/DET/CHI would all be extremely competitive, and make our Division the toughest in MLB. That was a colossal misjudge. All 3 teams have been meh to shit

A small portion of that is true, but most of it is due to the fact that the other teams are just extremely mediocre.

Cleveland, the preseason ESPN fave to win the Central is 18-31 against their Divisional Foes. That's garbage. Detroit is 30-20 against the Central, but they can't beat anybody else. Chicago is 20-31 in the Central and has been the definition of mediocre all season. It's just a shit Division being led by the 2nd best team in Baseball. Now, they aren't the worst Division in baseball. That illustrious title belongs to the NL East.

Good lord, some of these predictions were funny, but seemed like a lot of people here thought we'd be around 90 wins and either winning or almost winning the AL Central. That's not bad.

Most people just couldn't predict how bad the rest of the division would bomb.

I'm less embarrassed about predicting 86 wins for the Royals (I actually thought I had them at 84) than I am at totally misreading the Indians and White Sox. I'm always going to pick low on my favorite teams. Plus, I had concerns that Volquez could come close to duplicating what he did in Pittsburgh. I actually was optimistic that Morales and Rios would bounce back (batting .500 there), but Volquez is the one guy who really proved me wrong.

They're +5 games above expected record vs PyThag (run differential) and +10 vs BaseRuns (sequencing). Both are #1 in MLB. Ryan noted on the broadcast this weekend our run diffetential with 2 outs is +45 which is easily the highest in MLB and over half our total differential of +80. We seemingly are clutch and our pen owns all high leverage situations. The infield fly DP last night by Hochevar was hilarious but yet seemed so typical.



I love the Royals and all but at the same time, If this team really wins 100 games (or the Cards do) then MLB has a serious talent issue because we're not a great team.

And that's 100 percent in line with the 2014 Royals, who were +5 and +10, comparatively. (FTR, I'm seeing +4 and +10)

I just counted 8 MLB teams who are +4 in the Pythag (which is what the Royals are right now. Half of those are +5 or better).

The Royals have good hitting through most of the lineup and bunch hits together to score runs. The bullpen is excellent. This means MLB has "a serious talent issue." Moron.
