Then by your definition, every action movie is cliche. It could see you using the term if there was a huge influx of giant monster movies, but alas, there are not.

Uh no. This movie just had the same elements of most action movies. It was predictable as hell. It's a cookie cutter movie with different characters. Seriously, is there any element of the movie that took you by surprise?

This movie was basically the adult version of Power Rangers.

Yeah. The ****ing director made a point of saying he was making a flick that his 12 year old self would love.
It's Godzilla and co. Vs Voltron/Robotech. It's not supposed to be original...

Pacific Rim was not intended to be a deep & revolutionary movie. It's an homage to the old Toho & Daiei movies that some of us watched when the only option to see giant monsters was on Saturday and Sunday sci-fi movies on local TV. Put yourself in that type of mindset and the movie was a blast. Keep your jaded, cynical adult mind set and the movie is stupid. I mean for the love of all that is holy; it’s a movie about giant robots fighting against giant monsters from the ocean. How much depth do you think anyone can get into a movie like that?!? Only complaint that I have with the movie is that the monsters were fairly generic. Nothing really stood out and their designs were kind of bland.

Movies like these have a hard time because people come in with the wrong expectations.
Im looking forward to seeing this movie for what it is: Eye Candy. Im not looking for witty dialogue, great acting or a great plot. That's not what movies like this are. If you can get past that and accept it for what it's meant to be you might enjoy it a bit more. |

So do you get upset when porno movies use the same clichés? I mean how many times have we seen that the pizza delivery man or plumber ends up having sex with the lonely housewife?

I call those two minutes into watching them. So predictable, it's ludicrous.

The 3D in Avatar was great... but honestly Pacific Rim might have been my favorite IMAX experience of all time. The sheer scale of the film in IMAX was great. Awesome experience... it's what going to the movies should be. Haven't bought the DVD but I'm guessing it's just not going to be the same on the living room TV.
