Pacific Rim was not intended to be a deep & revolutionary movie. It's an homage to the old Toho & Daiei movies that some of us watched when the only option to see giant monsters was on Saturday and Sunday sci-fi movies on local TV. Put yourself in that type of mindset and the movie was a blast. Keep your jaded, cynical adult mind set and the movie is stupid. I mean for the love of all that is holy; it’s a movie about giant robots fighting against giant monsters from the ocean. How much depth do you think anyone can get into a movie like that?!? Only complaint that I have with the movie is that the monsters were fairly generic. Nothing really stood out and their designs were kind of bland.
