We have discussed it in various committees, including broadcasting. We had a full discussion on the floor with the owners and other executives this week. I think there’s a tremendous amount of interest in this, possibly even to the point of support, but there are also things we still want to make sure we do it right. We’ve been very incremental in trying to do this, but we believe competitively it could make even our races toward the end of our season even more exciting with more teams vying for playoff positions, which is great for our fans. We still want to do some additional work, including talking with the players association. We have a scheduled meeting set for April 8. This will be one of the things we’ll probably discuss and then we’ll also have to talk to broadcast partners and there are some scheduling issues that we still need to work through.”

It seems unlikely that the league will expand the playoffs for the 2014 season. But it looks like it’s going to get done in 2015.

Hey, I agree with you 100%. But since Goodell couldn't get his 18 game schedule (Which, if anyone missed it, new Union rep Eric Winston said "Not on my watch". Roger had to come up with another way to add more games to = more revenue.

We have come to see, he is a power type. If you tell him no, one way or another he is going to get it done.

I don't think it's horrible, but stretching playoffs games through Sunday and Monday nights will be a bit much.

We all won't be bitching if the Chiefs are 'that' team the first 2 out of 3 years they pass it.

I don't understand why so many talk radio folks and fans are against expanding the play offs. What is does is instead of two teams getting a bye in each division, only one team does. I like that because it really rewards the best team in each conference. The extra wild card game will be great IMO, it will make for a full slate of games on Wild Card Weekend, which I hope is a Saturday late afternoon game, a Saturday night game, two games on Sunday, a Sunday night game, and a Monday night game. Just let the a team that will host a home game in the divisional round host Monday night game. For example, this past year it could have been the Panthers hosting Arizona. What's wrong with that?
