John Dorsey Appreciation Thread

This seemed like a necessary post. I think we as a fan base take for granted the moves our GM has made and the culture he and coach Reid have developed in KC. It's a tough thing to make all these things click at once (looking at you, Pioli).

A list I hope can be added to for years, some highlights of the Dorsey era since 2013:
-Drafted Travis Kelce, top 5 TE
-Drafted Eric Fisher, who has developed into a top 15, perhaps 10 tackle
-Claimed Jaye Howard, a brick wall at the LOS
-Claimed and re-signed Ron Parker, a journeyman turned into a high quality safety
-Signed Husain Abdullah, another quality safety
-Re-signed Allen Bailey, a bull at the LOS
-Flipped Kelcie McCray for a 5th round pick
-Signed Chase Daniel, great backup who has one the team a game in relief
-Signed Mike DeVito, solid veteran who is great in the run game
-Drafted Phillip Gaines, who looked like a real nice slot corner pre-ACL
-Re-signed Justin Houston, top 5 defensive player in the NFL
-Kept Tamba Hali on a pay cut, playing at a high level while the jury is still out on Dee Ford
-Signed Jeremy Maclin, a true WR1 that the Chiefs have lacked
-Draft De'Anthony Thomas, top 5 kick returner
-Signed undrafted FA's Charcandrick West, Albert Wilson, Justin March (promising prospect)
-Re-signed Jamaal Charles, all-time great RB
-Drafted Mitch Morse, already a top 10 center
-Drafted Marcus Peters, that's all
-Traded for Alex Smith, say what you will, no he's not elite, but he's better than what we've had for years and wins more than most
-Traded for Anthony Sherman, perhaps the best FB in the NFL
-Signed Sean Smith, top 10 corner a year ago

With the jury still out on several picks and more moves to be made, here's to hoping this list continues to grow and grow moving forward. Kudos so far, Mr. Dorsey. Don't stop now.

We won everything but a trip to the SB and a SB win.

We won the same amount of games the Cowboys did in the 90's and look at what they did compres to us

By this logic, we should still believe Pioli is a phenomenal GM since he's won plenty of playoff games.

03-06 had 3 out of 4 winning seasons with a 7-9 sprinkled in. They were probably a Wade Phillips away from a playoff run.

He deserves credit for being better than Pioli, yes.

Dorsey has Carl Petersone'd this team so far. So good for him to getting us back to stability and playoff contention every year. Moving forward, he has to do what Carl never did, which is draft a QB who can win it all. It looks like his former co-worker McKenzie has done that in Oakland. So we need to do that in the next few years. But right now he's mastered the Carl Peterson 53 man roster knock on the door every year philosophy. The only difference is that I still feel his hands are a bit tied because there is no way, despite what he says, that Andy Reid is not calling the final shots. I think moves like Alex Smith and Jeremy Maclin have Reid written all over them...

Can't really argue that at this venture.

But you also can't sell Dorsey short on the approach concerning the QB and then follow that up by saying that QB was chosen by Reid.

Terrible ****ing take. It's like Dorsey can only get credit if he finds the next Aaron Rodgers.

It's pretty crazy what has happened to Knile Davis. I'll eat some crow on that one.

Just crazy that Dorsey found West and Ware and they are both better.

Nothing happened other than a few good games. He is as he always was a 3.5 ypg tail back... the stats don't lie.

It shows that this coaching staff isn't scared to put the best guy on the field.

Conley isn't getting it right now, so Wilson is getting the reps. West and Ware vs. Davis. Mauga over Wilson, etc.

People bitch about Reid, but the guy is actually a pretty darn good head coach.

This team is missing a few pieces to be elite, but they are close and they can play with anybody on any given Sunday.

Considering where this team was during the final days of the Pioli reign of terror, it's downright remarkable what Dorsey has put together and accomplished.
