How can we improve Chiefs discussion around here?
I've mentioned my disappointment in the quality of discussion in a few threads lately, but figured it's worth a more meta discussion to figure out 1) if I'm alone in this perception and 2) if there's anything that can be done about it.

Back in the old days, I walked 20 miles to school in the snow uphill both ways!

Err...wait. I mean, ChiefsPlanet was THE place where I got my Chiefs news. If an article was worth reading on another site, it was linked here. If there was a tweet with Chiefs news, it was posted here 30 seconds after it hit Twitter. If someone said something worthwhile on the radio, someone would post about it on here. And (with all due respect to those who like megathreads), you could glance at the front page and have a pretty decent idea of what the big news was for the day.

After returning home from the boonies on Sunday morning, however, I honestly had no idea how the game Saturday even went. I ended up visiting Arrowhead Pride and Chiefs Digest just to get a feel for what went down. Am I the weird one for thinking that that sucks?

Anyway, just figured it's worth the discussion. If it turns out that everyone is pretty content the way things are, I'll just bookmark some other resources and move on with life. But if I'm not alone, what can we do to make things better?

My honest answer? I used to LOVE to talk football here. We'd talk strategy, personnel, draft, etc. But now, there are too many "internet smart" people on message boards these days. If you were watching the game with them at a bar or in the Stadium, they'd have a blank look on their face relative to how to break down a play. But, with the use of all the information available on the WW Intertubes, everyone is a ****ing genius on a message board.

So, I don't really participate in the football discussions anymore - I mainly lurk. I look for those individuals that I can tell really know their shit. The others I just laugh at, as I know they a.) never played the game nor, b.) do they know what they are talking about without the use of an internet football dictionary.

It's all good. I still enjoy CP. I just enjoy it for different reasons now.

again i wouldnt talk about things you know nothing about. if you arent in the royals threads and knowledgeable about why the threads are better than chiefs threads you probably shouldnt state an opinion why people like them more.

when we played the rangers and clay thought he was a fan of theirs he ruined the royals threads too...

I've been a fan of this team since the 90s and I've got nothing to show for it. None of us do.

If we put together a back-to-back playoff appearance you don't think Clay would flip like judo? It only took the guy a 5 game regular season win streak to start to believe again. Hell, the dude was a ****ing Matt Cassel fan not long ago. He's got a lil Chiefy in him that's dying to be set free.
