What do you consider the "CP Braintrust"? There is definitely a contingent on CP calling him a bust and/or being hypercritical. It's not a majority but you can't get a majority agreement on anything here (except that Sandy Cheeks is a dumbass ).
There isn't a CP Braintrust. It's just what people say when someone had an opinion they didn't like.

If you don't think he's improved in every area from year 1 to year 2 then I don't know what to tell you. Now if it's not significant enough for you, then your expectations are too high for a guy that's only played 7 games worth of professional football.

How has the guy improved as a pass rusher? He still relies on speed, doesnt translate speed to power very well.

He's not an abortion against the run, which is nice to see but again, 2 years in the league is a while even not playing he's sat behind 2 of the best in football.

I've seen him use a bull rush to get pressure a few times (especially against the Broncos and Manning), so that's not entirely true. But ok, so a guy that is among the NFL's best in creating pressure in his first few starts and still has room to grow as a pass rusher is a bad thing?

His first sack vs SD was very Tamba esque. He used his hands well on that play. I hope he keeps improving in that regard.

He's basically perfect for 3rd and long situations right now with Tamba and Houston back. He's gotta get stronger in the offseason

I'm not saying he's one of the NFL's best. Come on man. I'm saying production wise he has been in the time span since his first career start. That is not debatable.

I don't think it's a strength issue, he's probably maxed with his frame, you'd start losing speed.

He needs to play.

Basically he's like a pitcher that throws a great fastball, but that's about it. As a pitcher, you're not likely to be an all time great with 1 plus oitch, you you can be a really good one with a plus fastball and a few show me pitches.

He needs a show me rush move or 2. A spin, undercur, something. Doesn't have to be great at it, just respectable

I think Dee can and will get stronger this offseason.

You guys are being WAY too hard on him. Totally spoiled by Tamba and Houston.

1st, people in this board were complaining about Tamba vs the run as soon as like THREE seasons ago. This is a common area of continuous improvement.

2nd, people complaining about Dee's pass rushing repertoire AFTER he leads the NFL in pressures in his only month starting... is like the most CP thing ever.

Well, if he could add to it maybe some pressures become sacks?

The CP brain trust, the Geno mafia, the draft tabulators, whatever you might call them, are the cadre of draftniks around here who for a few years went around denigrating anybody who questioned their eminence in evaluating draft prospects.

After a few years of this, when the piles of evidence grew up to the heavens of players CP loved and was wrong about - being wrong most of the time but especially about QBs, and seemingly the louder the screaming the wrong-er the CPBT was - it turned into a running gag.

You can name any number of players to reference the gag... Jimmy Clausen, Mark Sanchez, Brian "Toilet Brush" Orakpo, Vernon Gholston, Taylor Mays, Aaron Curry, innumerable others - but Geno Smith is the classic example because a personality cult revolved around him here for about a year.

That's what Tamba was for a few years of his career. Around 8 sacks a year and poor against the run...but a TON of pressures.

He overcame those deficiencies by training in the off seasons in martial arts to learn to best use his hands to get off blocks and building his core strength.

He's the PERFECT veteran for Ford to have learned from and I expect big things from him going forward.

He needs to learn 2 counter moves like a spin and a bull rush to fully take advantage of his God given "get off".
