The best fried chicken?
I am talking about national eateries, like if you drive for miles and have an urge to eat some fried chicken, which one place do you choose?

Aside from that, what is the best fried chicken you ever had, homemade or in restaurant?

By the way, all fried chicken lovers rejoice for this news!!!

The only beef I have about fried food, (actually is from my wife) is that the shortening that is used. Some stores only change the shortening once a week.

Lot's of good fried chicken down in these parts: Chicken Annies, Chicken Mary's, Gebhardts. All small family owned.

In terms of best national level I am kind of partial to Popeye's myself.

I did a stint north of the river and can vouche for that Price Copper rotisserie chicken.

I'm in PHX now, west side, but hope to make it to Lolo's.

there's a place about 20 miles from my dad in Arkansas called Montenay Chicken (I've probably butchered the spelling etc); shit it's good. It's up there with Stroud's.

The best fried chicken I've ever had was at a soul food joint called Three Friend's Restaurant in KCMO. It was on Prospect around 25th street. It closed a few years ago and people cried. I think they were only open three days per week. All their food was great, but I loved the fried chicken with sides of mac/cheese and collard greens.

For nationwide fast food fried chicken I'll take Popeye's.

There's flavor in that old oil. That's why there are some restaurants that pride themselves on using old oil. Look up Dyer's in Memphis - they claim they're re-using 50-year-old oil (strained every night, obviously).
