How about United be a responsible airline and don't overbook flights and then try to fit their own employees on the already overbooked flight?

Wrong. I would love to see where they legally have the right to physically remove a passenger who has paid for his seat and is not causing a disturbance. United should have continued to up the voucher until someone took it. If no one did, bump their own ****ing crew.

When that doctor sues United AND the Chicago PD, getting dragged off the plane (just so some other United employees could get on board) is gonna pay big dividends. I hope Doc makes millions. United is a joke, they could have handled that situation in many other ways.

I can see United calling in all their lawyers in preparation for protecting their anus.

It won't see a court room. United is calling in their lawyers to get a settlement together and a gag order that will come with it. They probably don't want what the guys lawyers will dredge up in discovery to see the light of day.

And FFS, it's a 300 mile drive, whether it's driving your crew or paying for a customer's rental... and it's probably not the only flight from Chicago to Louisville, even if they have to figure something out with another airline.

Bumping a couple of passengers? Pffft. Hell, they did that for an entire airplane on a flight I was on in Denver. It was one a one-stop flight from KC to San Jose. Except when we arrived, they announced that we had to gather all of our belongings and head to the gate area where someone would tell us which gate we needed to go to continue on. Nope. The gate agents were too busy making an announcement that flight # whatever was now ready to board (and using our plane). Seems their plane had mechanical issues. Yeah, that went over really well. I haven't flown on United since.

Tell them their plan didn't work.

Come up with another solution.

Are people really ok with them not saying that and instead dragging this guy off? There were plenty of other options to take here like "Hey, you guys ****ed this up and he wants to stay. Figure out an alternative."

Offer him more $ for one thing. They can offer up to $1350 for domestic flights and they only offered him $800. They could have flown their dumbass employees on another flight AND on a different airline. They could have again asked another passenger to voluntarily give up their seat for $1350.

They could have flown 3 employees on that flight and the 4th on a different flight.

BUT NOOOOO!!! UNITED HAD TO PROVE WHO WAS THE BOSS!!
