Any board changes soon?

I was thinking... I only come here once every 2-4 months and when I do it's the same old board. By that, I mean no disrespect but isn't there something to make the board more "user friendly" or updated?

Like real time post updates on posts instead of having to hit refresh. Facebook "like or dislike" buttons to go along with the rep system?

I found myself wanting to like a post of someone's but I then remember the rep system I'd have to go through a couple of clicks and no one else can see my rep for that user. More times than not, I just don't do the rep because of that reason.

These are just my mudslinging thoughts and wanted to know if there were any upgrades coming?

Please understand I'm just offering suggestions instead of slinging mud.
This place is more like the older dwindling church that doesn't change with the times instead of evolving to include "quickies for convenience" for the younger ADHD generation.

1.) Real time post updates suck

2.) The newer versions of vBulletin are terrible. The original company was bought out by Internet Brands, most of the original software geeks left, and the last couple of versions have been dogshit. Here's an article on it, in case you're interested:

It's 2015, where is my dark theme?

Also I think we need better servers. Can we start a fund-raiser?

Interesting article, thanks. That definitely reflects the experience here - I know Kyle has set up test servers in the past for both vB4 and vB5, but never made the switch because the software was awful and we'd have to lose tons of features to make the "upgrade".

If that specific feature is a popular request, it could probably happen. There are a handful of "like" mods out there, though someone would need to dig into them and see if any are very good.

You're welcome. Patsfans.com ended up dropping the vBulletin altogether, and setting up with Xenforo. If this place gets to the point where a switch is in order, y'all might want to talk to Ian about it.

Anyone wanting to check out mobile, use the mobile site, NOT the mobile view setting in user pref's. I think a mod is required to get you back to normal view on the full site.

The feedback I've seen from boards and individuals has to be at least 80% negative if not a higher %.

Now THAT'S a message board. Seriously. How to bake a potato in foil, watery canned beans, party games for grownups, corn pickers, swine diseases. Spend a little time there and you are transported to a simpler time and an easier pace. God bless the Midwest and her fine people.
