Qbs are completing nearly 70% of their passes when they target Collins.

Trade Houston. Cut Berry.
Bring in Collins, get some new blood going with the draft on defense. This new staff will get the most out of these players IMO. Landon is ideal for a FA at 25 years old. He can be a long term answer at SS. |

Poorly. But not because of the position or the player. It was simple health that led to that falling apart.
That's a risk you run with ANY player you sign to a long-term deal. If this team has a healthy Eric Berry playing at the level he was playing when he signed his deal, do you think we win a championship last year? I do. There's risk, sure. But the risk isn't for the reasons you're suggesting. If Collins plays at the level he's played to over the last several years after getting a long-term deal here, especially the level he played at under Spags, then we'll never regret that contract. And if he doesn't play to that level, it will be because of injuries. Do you have any reason to believe he's more prone to injury than ANYONE we'd give a LTC to? Or are you opposed to paying top of the market for any defensive player? I can understand either of those arguments if you're willing to make them. I disagree with them, but I'll acknowledge their validity. If you have some reasoning beyond that, I certainly can't come up with it.
