Federal marijuana bill would legalize some cannabis strains

Just the pot that does not get you high.

http://www.cnn.com/2014/07/28/health...html?hpt=hp_t1

A bill being introduced Monday in the U.S. House of Representatives could be Cox's ticket home. The three-page bill would amend the Controlled Substances Act -- the federal law that criminalizes marijuana -- to exempt plants with an extremely low percentage of THC, the chemical that makes users high.

My mrs has rheumatoid arthritis and I once asked her doctor about her trying medicinal marijuana and he was opposed to even that but he loves dishing out the prescriptions for her.She is also addicted to diet coke which as far as I've read has been proven to irritate the joints in the body and so I asked him if he could maybe mention to her that 6-8 diet cokes a day could be a bit much and he told me that everyone has an addiction and it could be worse.

Doctors are full of shit, they follow the money.

They don't know nearly as much as they think they do

Yeah I'm not against opiates for pain relief. There are people who benefit from them and don't abuse them. But the chance for abuse, addiction, and other health complications from taking them is far far greater than that of marijuana. As someone who has PLENTY of experience with marijuana and pills in his past, I can say without a shadow of a doubt that stopping heavy marijuana use abruptly had no effect on me at all other than "gee I'd like a joint right now". Stopping painkillers abruptly sent my mind and body into a shock and I felt like I had nothing to live for. Night and day.

If you get the good painkillers I suggest only taking them when you really really need it. It's easy to get trapped by them.

20 years of being in pain every second of every day leads me to pick differently

Oh shit. I didn't know it was that extreme for you. That's a bummer. In that case, dope yourself up early and often. Being in pain every waking second is no way to live.

I will give it to my mrs she's a trooper when it comes to the pain but what pisses me off is she refuses to even give weed a try because "it's illegal" and I say no what's illegal is that you have a weekly pill box big enough to house a damn hamster.

You know how much money the big pharma companies are spending to lobby against legalization?

I am.

Opiates oftentimes are overkill, like using a nail gun to close a paper cut.

Other times, they simply don't work.

My wife has a chronic pain disorder and has literally tried everything. The doctors and drug companies continue to push Lyrica for her particular issue, even though it potentially causes severe depression (as it did in my wife's case) that has led to ****ing suicide.

No, can't smoke a joint. But can LEGALLY prescribe a drug that makes people kill themselves.

Sounds like my wife. She's given up a lot of her meds in favor of natural treatments but she still won't smoke, not until it's legal.
