A bill being introduced Monday in the U.S. House of Representatives could be Cox's ticket home. The three-page bill would amend the Controlled Substances Act -- the federal law that criminalizes marijuana -- to exempt plants with an extremely low percentage of THC, the chemical that makes users high.

They have to. All these babies going from 100 seizures a day to zero or 1. Doctors can literally say it's saving lives as opposed to... adding to the quality of life.

Just cushions the blow for the eventual legalization.

so if its passed and you get pulled over with weed in the car its ok? how do they know which kind it is and if its legal or not?

It would still be up to the states to say if med marijuana is legal. If your med marijuana was legal, you'd likely be carrying a license and/or prescription. Police could maybe test it for potency/type too.

I don't know if there's a field test for marijuana, but there is for cocaine...
