We're fine--trust in Mahomes

Yeah, this defense is a pile of trash like in the Vermeil years. Yeah, Andy Reid's track record in big games in his coaching career is abysmal. Yeah, this team is not playing its best football right now heading into the playoffs like they often did in the Alex Smith era.

But quit drawing comparisons between this team and past Chiefs/Reid teams and quit acting like this team is somehow doomed in January because they lost two close December games to good teams (one to arguably the 2nd best team in the NFL on the final play and another in the toughest road environment in the NFL).

Any of the parallels between the 2018 Chiefs and any past iterations of this franchise should stop once you realize we have a 5000 yd/50 TD quarterback in a league where passing offense is increasingly the only thing that matters. Patrick Mahomes is the best ****ing quarterback in the league and it isn't even close. He's the kind of offensive difference maker that no other team can match (and particularly no other team in the AFC this year) and he has led this team to the most wins in the conference practically by himself.

Sure it sucks that they didn't get it done the last few weeks, but the Chiefs are going to beat Oakland at home next week to get the #1 seed and home advantage. That is WHAT ****ing matters. Not whether they won or lost some December road game to the Seattle ****ing Seahawks. The real season for this team starts in January and that has been obvious for weeks now (and has probably been obvious to the Chiefs themselves too).

Given that home advantage along with the biggest weapon in the league leading them, the Chiefs are going to have as good a chance as anyone at winning a SB this season. Any other team in this league would kill to be in that position right now. Now it may not work out in the end and the defensive flaws may come back to bite us, but this team is almost certainly going to be among eight teams (and one of the best of those eight) in with a shot this year come January 12/13. It's time to stop bitching and moaning about what this team isn't and start appreciating what it is. Put your faith in Mahomes and get on for the ride.

Sorry, but you're delusional. The way you're talking, you might as well just run Mahomes out by himself on offense and no one else. I don't care how good Mahomes is, this defense will spot any offense it goes against a free 30 and it forces Mahomes to be PERFECT. You saw what has happened during this stretch when he's not. We lose, every single time.

I’m as guilty as anyone of this, but we’ve tried to believe this team was a contender all year when in reality Mahomes was just making it seem that way. I’m not sure any other QB even has a winning record with this defense.

No other QB even has 5 wins with this defense.

I'm delusional for saying that a team likely to have HFA with the best QB in the league has a fair chance at winning the SB? I wonder what Vegas will have to say about that next week after the Oakland game...

Six weeks ago I would still believe no problem because the offense was literally unstoppable and potentially best ever material. Now they are just really good, but being really good is not enough to overcome the defense.

Also I take no comfort in the idea that our losses have been “good.” Any back and forth game against a good QB is an automatic loss due to the defense and Reid’s game management issues. Have we won a single one this year? I can’t think of one. So I can’t see anything to indicate we will change this trend in the playoffs.

We beat Rivers and Big Ben to open the season 38-28 and 42-37

Browns too, not sure if they count but Baker has been a stud in 2018

Those were not back and forth games though. We had big leads and just had to hold on at the end. And barely did so anyways.

Is Mahomes going to throw 6 TDs and play a perfect game again so we can squeak by the Steelers again?

That's what it'll take to for this team to win a playoff game.

The 2006 Colts were awful in the regular season and got Bob Sanders back and completely flipped a switch in the playoffs.

They allowed 16 ppg and 238 yards/game in the playoffs, both very strong numbers.

Meanwhile Manning finished that playoff season with like 3 TD/7 INT and the Colts averaged 151 yards on the ground.

It's the unspoken truth but for all the amazing stats he put up, Manning didn't really play that great in either of his Super Bowl runs. He had the 2nd half comeback against the Patriots in 2006, which was huge no doubt. But he never really carried a team on his back all the way to a Super Bowl. We all know what he looked like when he won in Denver, his arm strength was gone and he led the league in INT. But both his Super Bowl teams played great defense in the playoffs.

At this point our D is such a waste of time....
Just go no huddle. We will need to win games the same way Texas tech won theirs. Winning shootouts with no expectation whatsoever from their defense.
