How can we improve Chiefs discussion around here?

I've mentioned my disappointment in the quality of discussion in a few threads lately, but figured it's worth a more meta discussion to figure out 1) if I'm alone in this perception and 2) if there's anything that can be done about it.

Back in the old days, I walked 20 miles to school in the snow uphill both ways!

Err...wait. I mean, ChiefsPlanet was THE place where I got my Chiefs news. If an article was worth reading on another site, it was linked here. If there was a tweet with Chiefs news, it was posted here 30 seconds after it hit Twitter. If someone said something worthwhile on the radio, someone would post about it on here. And (with all due respect to those who like megathreads), you could glance at the front page and have a pretty decent idea of what the big news was for the day.

After returning home from the boonies on Sunday morning, however, I honestly had no idea how the game Saturday even went. I ended up visiting Arrowhead Pride and Chiefs Digest just to get a feel for what went down. Am I the weird one for thinking that that sucks?

Anyway, just figured it's worth the discussion. If it turns out that everyone is pretty content the way things are, I'll just bookmark some other resources and move on with life. But if I'm not alone, what can we do to make things better?

You know that would be a good Kyle or perhaps Bearcat question. I remember Kyle posting something at one time about the numbers being off because of something but I don't remember why.

I glad to see someone finally realizes there might be trouble in paradise. I've been coming here for 8+years for intelligent discussion of Chiefs football and news. Now there is neither. Any attempt a discussion will devolve into an AS/EF sucks and will never improve until both are cut/fired/killed and I can find far more news at other sites. The good posters that had good insight into things have been run off. I'll continue to lurk here most likely but unless things change I won't be saying much. My 2 cents. tmax63

Yeah they are. There are times I enjoy his top 10 threads more than I enjoy the game, primarily when they get beat by a team they should have thumped.

He's both.

As for mods not knowing how to keep him away, that's just silly.

lock his account and don't unlock it ... make him start over.

permaban his ip and don't undo it

sure he can create a new account and proxy his ip but that's a pain in the ass. With each new account name he loses influence and becomes another n00b.

I don't think that's it, i think he is friends with mods away from CP. That's the real reason he gets to come back. JMO.

Don't be a troll, don't accept trolls.

Dog pile a troll each time you see them and shut up because it not as fun.

Trolls like Demonpenz and hog farmer are harmless.

It's the nag Trolls that degrade the forum discussions.

the mods can perm iggy the 3 or 4 bad trolls in about 30 seconds, they just don't want to.

Darth CarlSatan is still basically a troll.

says the same thing in every thread
starts the same mudslinging argument in every thread

He's not as rude as he used to be but he still contributes almost nothing

On your highlights: If the dude is pals with any of the mods they are keeping it one hell of a secret, I don't think any of us hang out with the guy for beers on the weekends. I know I sure as hell don't.

Addressing your last point: "Ain't my monkey ain't my cage." I did however state that I will be happy to ban a couple of guys from game threads if the same crap happens again and you can bet your last dime on it.

Most threads though I can ween through the troll posts and see the good football talk. Doesn't really bother me much, Clay and Sweet Daddy Williams both grow on ya outside of Chiefs talk lol.

So, don't accept trolls, except some trolls?

Royals fans will read pete all day, but bricks was such a troll.

I'd definitely get rid of a few around here, except I'm sure some would be 'harmless' for some or the majority of the board, while someone like Clay doesn't bother me much.

It's a nice theory, but there's a reason there's a huge gap between this place and other boards.... anything in between would be a huge pain in the ass to moderate. That doesn't mean we couldn't clean up a little, but you'd laugh at half the reported posts we see, because everyone's line is different and no one will ever be happy where it's drawn.

I feel like fans all over the country are slowly migrating to being fans of the sport in general and their fantasy team as a larger percentage of their overall fandom than ever before, decreasing their fandom of their personal favorite team.
