AFC West - 7 games left

Hola - so I've taken a break from posting here for the most part and I think we're all happier. However, going into the final stretch of 7 games with the bye weeks done, it looks like it's going to be a nice battle for the division crown.

Not much room for error, quite honestly, with each team having at least 3 difficult (in red) games in the final 7. The Chargers, in my opinion have the toughest road with the Ravens, Patriots, Denver, SF and KC. They're really going to have to turn it on to make up the 2 game gap, otherwise they're pinning their hopes on a wildcard, which is more difficult as the 3rd place divisional team ... and you have three 6 win teams in the North.

Denver and KC have the game @KC and that could mean everything. If KC can knock off SEA next week, that's a monstrous development for the race. My guess is most chalked that up as a loss, but they've been very mortal lately.

Denver has looked anything but unbeatable the last few weeks, they've played ok, but the OL is having issues - too many penalties and the defense bends and breaks on 3rd down against aggressive teams.

At some point, that could cost them a win against a Miami or Cincy.

Nice win for KC at Buffalo yesterday, good road win. At the very least, it appears right now that we have a 3-team race. Should look that way for the next 2 weeks, as I think SD can win two straight (OAK, STL). All three teams can win their next two games and then we're heading into December with quite the finish for the divisional crown.

Good luck with all that...

Broncos (7-2 overall / 3-0 Div)
Lost @ SEA and @ NEP
@ STL
MIA
@KC
BUF
@SD
@CIN
OAK

Chiefs (6-3 overall / 1-1 Div)
Lost to TEN, @ DEN and @ SFF
SEA
@OAK
DEN
@AZ
OAK
@PIT
SD

Chargers (5-4 overall / 1-2 Div)
Lost @AZ, to KC, @ DEN and @MIA
OAK
STL
@BAL
NEP
DEN
@SF

That puts them at 10 wins and 3 tough road games. Cincy is helter skelter, honestly no idea what to expect from that bunch.

But, I'll say they lose 2 of the road games... gives them 11 wins.

KC - let's say they protect home and win those 3, they move to 10 wins. With road games @ OAK, AZ and PIT. Honestly, I could see them losing 2, winning only at OAK. Leaves us with a tie at the top.

Quite frankly, with the way SD has been up and down (like Cincy), I just don't see them winning 4 of 6 to get to 10 wins. Find it for me. They play @ Baltimore, @ SanFran and @ KC... not to mention they host New England and Denver. I don't see it, 8-9 wins for the Chargers.

If things hold and both KC and Denver get to 11 wins, with KC splitting the series in a few weeks... the tiebreakers will be very interesting. Makes the remaining divisional games VERY important - OAK / SD, for both our teams. Bottom line, Denver still controls their destiny to win the division and gain the #2 seed - need help to get that #1 seed.

Am I wrong in saying we own all of the tiebreakers after h2h?

So far, the teams have played 6 similar teams...

SEA, NYJ, SFF, SD, NEP, STL

Denver is 3-3 and KC is 5-1, so far - yes, KC has that edge if the Div Records were the same.

KC has played Miami and Buff, both wins - Denver hasn't played them yet. Moves KC to 7-1.

Denver has played AZ and OAK, both wins - KC hasn't played them yet. Moves them to 5-3.

Miami, Bills, SD and OAK left for Denver.
Oak, AZ, Oak, SD left for KC.

KC would really have to shat the bed to lose that 2 game cushion in the 3rd tiebreaker. I'm hoping it doesn't come to that... but am all for it happening.

Im not worried about San Diego anymore. They're far too injured and that O-line has been getting its shit pushed in. Rivers is battling a rib injury and has to peel himself off the turf every passing play.

I'll be interested to see how Denver handles MIA and Buff. Those games will tell us if we have a pattern or an anomaly there.

Yeah, and I'm curious to see what KC does on the short week, traveling to OAK.

OAK could very well go 0-16, but who knows? KC coming off a big emotional (maybe more mental) road win at BUFF, followed by a tough home win vs SEA. Oakland is a team and a game to easily dismiss. Doubt it happens, but one can dream.

As a fan for 40 years or so, I honestly don't think this team thinks that way. I don't think they will look past anyone, much less a divisional opponent.

Nope. You heard Andy Reid. He said it's time to go to work. He knows. Alex knows. The team better know.

Last night makes things interesting in the division race. Denver still has to pick things up after a couple of puke games. The NFL can keep things real sometimes.

That was probably the most pissed and let down I have felt after a game in some time. Even more so than Indy just because that loss didn't really surprise me.

These games between OAK and SD are going to write the story for the division. I still don't see SD doing anything worth noting with that remaining schedule.

KC and Denver each have 3 road losses. Denver's edge right now is the worst they do is split with KC and KC already has 2 divisional losses.

Denver, by no means has an easy path if JT and Sanders miss games. I haven't looked at an update yet, but I don't think either is practicing. They can take care of MIA at home without them, but not if they play like they did last week.

Denver will need all the weapons to win @ KC - just like last night, the divisional games are always interesting and records rarely matter. Denver has to win this week though to hold on to that edge and really put pressure on KC to beat the Broncos the following week.

If Denver can win the next two weeks - it's all but over and KC is charting the WC tiebreakers. KC has two real tests after Denver with @AZ and @PIT, both teams have issues, but are tough at home. KC will need more than Kelce to help open things up for Charles.

Broncos (7-3 overall / 3-0 Div)
Lost @ SEA, @ NEP @ ST:
MIA
@KC
BUF
@SD
@CIN
OAK

Chiefs (7-4 overall / 1-2 Div)
Lost to TEN, @ DEN, @ SFF, @ OAK
DEN
@AZ
OAK
@PIT
SD

Chargers (6-4 overall / 2-2 Div)
Lost @AZ, to KC, @ DEN and @MIA
STL
@BAL
NEP
DEN
@SF
@KC

Yeah, that late PI saved the day for SD. I still think SD doesn't advance.

For each BS PI that gave the Chargers the ball on the 1 yard line today, I can show you 3 for Baltimore. Seriously. Baltimore scored 3 TDs today, all of which came after a PI in the end zone.

Edit: Also, I don't think that was a BS PI call, defender was all over Floyd before the ball arrived, and contact was initiated before the defender looked for the ball. The fact that Floyd then tried to rip the defender off of him doesn't make it not a penalty.
