Assuming they offered at least $1350. The CEO himself said they offered up to $1000.

He probably could sue at least for the head injuries. That someone already got suspended for that is a strong hint that the authorities recognize it was excessive force.

And he won't have to sue, so the point is moot. If United is smart, they will publicly settle this and pay him off handsomely.

I was listening to NPR on the drive in, and apparently this is a complete NIGHTMARE for United in China. They have more US to China flights than any other airline, apparently, and China is important to them. It is the second largest country in the world in terms of source of flights, and the fastest growing.

And the Chinese people are VERY sensitive to the fact that this American airline (no pun intended) chose to grab and beat the crap out of a guy of Chinese nationality.

It's a complete PR nightmare for them to deal with there, as well as here.
