How can we improve Chiefs discussion around here?

I've mentioned my disappointment in the quality of discussion in a few threads lately, but figured it's worth a more meta discussion to figure out 1) if I'm alone in this perception and 2) if there's anything that can be done about it.

Back in the old days, I walked 20 miles to school in the snow uphill both ways!

Err...wait. I mean, ChiefsPlanet was THE place where I got my Chiefs news. If an article was worth reading on another site, it was linked here. If there was a tweet with Chiefs news, it was posted here 30 seconds after it hit Twitter. If someone said something worthwhile on the radio, someone would post about it on here. And (with all due respect to those who like megathreads), you could glance at the front page and have a pretty decent idea of what the big news was for the day.

After returning home from the boonies on Sunday morning, however, I honestly had no idea how the game Saturday even went. I ended up visiting Arrowhead Pride and Chiefs Digest just to get a feel for what went down. Am I the weird one for thinking that that sucks?

Anyway, just figured it's worth the discussion. If it turns out that everyone is pretty content the way things are, I'll just bookmark some other resources and move on with life. But if I'm not alone, what can we do to make things better?

Really no way to police it without killing content posts.. Proportional way to do it is a short vacation from thread privileges for breaking the rule.

That's why I don't post many new threads. It gets annoying with all the snarky stupid comments.

1. get rid of megathreads. The front page looks like it hasn't change in a week because all the movement is in one thread. Unless you camp out in megathread you have to dig for anything. Megathreads keep aids around longer than normal. Fights go on for 50 pages. Thread titles drive curiosity and megathread dump all thread titles.

2. stop with all the Q shit ... who cares.

3. A base line of respect for people or they get troll ban of 1-day. Penalty doubles each further troll ban. All this attack first, attacking is the priority crap keeps people from posting for fear of dog pile. Homer trolls aren't any better than Negative trolls. Open discussion or **** off.

yep ... people need to speak up and tell people to stop when the thread "bullying" starts.

Mods can help but public pressure works faster.

FYI off-topic megathread are fine, just not for normal sports topics

Example: Dating megathread,Ecig thread etc

draft sub-forum should be in the lounge during the Draft month as well

2013-2014 mark the first time since the 1996-1997 seasons in which the team has had back-to-back winning records.

That alone should be worth discussing but we all know where that conversation leads, so...
Those were the GOOD OLD DAYS! When the Planet was first taking shape. We were all tied to 37-Forever and there was mutual respect for starting something and being involved with that effort. The Planet was like a sanctuary where we could all talk Chiefs Football. It was like a reward, for putting up with various other sites and the issues associated with them. (Anyone remember how often the old Star board CRASHED? )

Lots of different personalities now and many like to start "poop threads" and BS like that. I just avoid them and only participate in football discussions. Times have changed here, and not for the better. Not sure it can ever get back to how it was back in the day or if the people here now even care if it does. There seems to be a general lack of respect now and that has changed the culture.
