How can we improve Chiefs discussion around here?
I've mentioned my disappointment in the quality of discussion in a few threads lately, but figured it's worth a more meta discussion to figure out 1) if I'm alone in this perception and 2) if there's anything that can be done about it.

Back in the old days, I walked 20 miles to school in the snow uphill both ways!

Err...wait. I mean, ChiefsPlanet was THE place where I got my Chiefs news. If an article was worth reading on another site, it was linked here. If there was a tweet with Chiefs news, it was posted here 30 seconds after it hit Twitter. If someone said something worthwhile on the radio, someone would post about it on here. And (with all due respect to those who like megathreads), you could glance at the front page and have a pretty decent idea of what the big news was for the day.

After returning home from the boonies on Sunday morning, however, I honestly had no idea how the game Saturday even went. I ended up visiting Arrowhead Pride and Chiefs Digest just to get a feel for what went down. Am I the weird one for thinking that that sucks?

Anyway, just figured it's worth the discussion. If it turns out that everyone is pretty content the way things are, I'll just bookmark some other resources and move on with life. But if I'm not alone, what can we do to make things better?

I would highly hesitate on doing this. People handle misery in different ways.

Why not man up and put them on ignore?

Personally I would rather see a ton of shit talk back and forth than a STL CARD thread or Wrasslin thread, but I ignore the content I dont want to see.

Honestly the chiefs are and have been a shitty franchise for a long ass time. No playoff wins since 93. Let that sink in. The Lions havent won since 1992 and they almost won last season...If they win last season will there even be any teams left more miserable than us?

If there are posters who JUST come in and shit all over good content on purpose , then by all means banning them might be an option...

But I am a believer in freedom and responsibility. Your opinion is different from others, and you control what content YOU see. You have a responsibility to ignore someone if you dont want to see their content....

I wouldnt go around silencing people.

Yeah, i'm quoting myself because you mother****ers need to read what i wrote. This forum has always had trolls and assholes. Don't devolve this thread into talking about them. That's an aspect that's always been here and will never go away.

What's CHANGED is that posters simply aren't posting Chiefs related news and articles like we use to.

Example: No training camp picture threads anymore. Remember when that was a thing? Instead, i have to go to KcChiefs.com for that.

I definitely agree with this, though I've always struggled a bit with posting content from other sources in its entirety. The internet sucks for journalists, so taking away page views is shitty to those whose jobs depend on ad revenue. Still, as long as 1) links are included prominently and 2) we try to just post snippets for discussion when it's not necessary to post an entire article, I'm all for it.
