I've mentioned my disappointment in the quality of discussion in a few threads lately, but figured it's worth a more meta discussion to figure out 1) if I'm alone in this perception and 2) if there's anything that can be done about it.

Back in the old days, I walked 20 miles to school in the snow uphill both ways!

Err...wait. I mean, ChiefsPlanet was THE place where I got my Chiefs news. If an article was worth reading on another site, it was linked here. If there was a tweet with Chiefs news, it was posted here 30 seconds after it hit Twitter. If someone said something worthwhile on the radio, someone would post about it on here. And (with all due respect to those who like megathreads), you could glance at the front page and have a pretty decent idea of what the big news was for the day.

After returning home from the boonies on Sunday morning, however, I honestly had no idea how the game Saturday even went. I ended up visiting Arrowhead Pride and Chiefs Digest just to get a feel for what went down. Am I the weird one for thinking that that sucks?

Anyway, just figured it's worth the discussion. If it turns out that everyone is pretty content the way things are, I'll just bookmark some other resources and move on with life. But if I'm not alone, what can we do to make things better?

One thing I want to see a change is game day bans. If I want to bitch about the team I should be able to as long as it's not trolling.

I don't post much anymore but I still love coming here for my chiefs news and reading the insightful posts of truly knowledgeable fans. It is a little disappointing that so many quality posters have left. This had always been the place where the best in-depth discussions regarding the chiefs could be found. There are still a lot of good posters who know their shit.

I agree that mega-threads have an adverse affect on the quantity and quality of chiefs related discussions. That said, the biggest turn off for me has been that every chiefs related thread seems to deteriorate into a pissing contest.

And it always seems to involve the same posters who have staked out an absolute position and invested themselves so heavily in "being right" that they exploit every little bit of positive or negative news as evidence that they are smarter than everyone else. No matter what the topic, each new thread ends up sounding like a broken record.

This team will never be perfect. Nor will any individual player. But the negativity that permeates this board because certain posters want to take black and white positions really detracts from the opportunity to have objective and insightful discussions.

IMO, hope is the thing that brings us together as chief fans. If this team makes someone miserable, what is the point? To make everyone else miserable by pissing all over the board? I don't get it.

I disagree. There was plenty of great discussion back in 2000, 2001 and 2002, when the Chiefs were 7-9, 6-10 and 8-8 respectively.

There's a very simple explanation for the lack of activity and poor discussions, which have absolutely nothing to do with the team's record.

2013-2014 mark the first time since the 1996-1997 seasons in which the team has had back-to-back winning records.

That alone should be worth discussing but we all know where that conversation leads, so...

Tribalwarfare use to post every KC Star article. Sometimes people would give him shit, but **** those guys. It was a Chiefs related read and would sometimes generate good discussions.

I'm a fan of Mega threads, but just because something is in a Mega thread doesn't mean it can't be given it's own thread as well. AND when someone does create another thread, we don't need people bitching about it, "Err it's in the megathread, herp derp".

When i joined this forum 10 years ago, it was a one stop shop for everything Chiefs related.

I didn't need to go to KC Star, or Kcchiefs.com or arrowhead pride etc.

It was all posted HERE.

We need to get back to that.

That's the thing clay goes to pride and doesn't act the way he does here.

He adds something there, sometimes even by being negative. He only comes here to take his shits everyday.

I never went anywhere else before this year. now I couldnt even find any information Chiefs related before face and iowanian posted their articles lately (MUCH APPRECIATED GUYS) I most have stuck to royals threads lately because even though there are differing opinions in those thread and some flat out idiots too, but it's not just one guy (who you see elsewhere throwing optimism and his videos around) beating his shit into the ground, walls, etc.

And I hate trying to look through some idiot's Twitter feeds to find info.
